Looking at the cover of this book, which features a large close up photograph of Kate Bush's face one could be forgiven for thinking that this book is a biography of the singer that has often been dubbed "one of Britain's most eccentric pop stars". In fact Waiting For Kate Bush is not a biography at all, although it is packed full of so much personal information about the singer that it does serve as one, in a roundabout way. This is instead a bizarre story of one mans obsession with Ms Bush written by John Mendelssohn and told through the character that he has created in Lesley Herskovits. It is a fictional story that is packed full of facts and provides an unique insight into the life of one of the pop world's most elusive stars.
Lesley Herskovits is a fifty something American who is so obsessed with Kate Bush that he has abandoned ...
Advantages: elijah wood, great cast, good one-liners Disadvantages: tries to hard to be funny in parts, bit confusing
Looking through my comprehensive collection of DVD's recently, I decided to search on Ciao and see if there were any that
were not listed. There were two - The Adventures of Huck Finn(read my review!) and this was the other - All I want (it changed its name when it went onto video for some reason) or Try Seventeen (the original film name).
This is one of those films that probably passed many of us by - except the die-hard Elijah Wood fans (like me!) that is. I had heard of it but I never actually made the journey to go and buy it.
Until the day I visited my local library and scanned their 'Items for Sale' bookcase for something interesting with a small price tag attached.
And I found what I was looking for - a DVD for £5 with the added bonus of Elijah Wood!

Advantages: Rare liturgies now in print Disadvantages: Narrow audience interest
can lead one to further research; a more extensive bibliography and annotation would be welcome for the liturgical scholar. The selection of liturgical models is a good one, pulling things in from East and West, honouring the main streams of liturgical practice. As Bishop Elijah wrote in his Afterword:
`Choosing the Liturgies to include in the first edition of this small volume, without overwhelming the reader, was no easy task. Diversity in unity is the mark of the presence of the Spirit in the Church, a presence that is playful, creative, and not bound by our limitations of concept and perception.'
Some liturgies, such as those of Chrysostom, the Roman Novus Ordo, and various European Old Catholic liturgies, were not included because, like those of the current Book of Common Prayer, they are more readily available.
