lie, as did the entirety of the original liner notes. Mercy, Mercy, Mercy was not recorded at that Chicago venue, but instead at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. (The ruse was a favour to the club owner.) The hollering audience was composed of invited guests and stimulated by free booze. Still, their enthusiasm is definitely well warranted, as alto man Cannonball Adderley and his band offer a riveting blend of postbop calisthenics and soul-jazz grooves. Joe Zawinul's famous title track, with its hypnotic, gospel-drenched funkiness, was a crossover top 10 pop hit, as well as an astonishing exercise in restraint for Zawinul, who somehow resists the urge to dig in on his electric piano, instead opting for a deep, mellow mood. The rest of the album cooks, with Cannonball, brother Nat on cornet, and Zawinul supplying the heat. --Marc Greilsamer
Album Notes: Cannonball Adderley Quintet: Cannonball Adderley (alto saxophone); Nat Adderley (cornet); Joe Zawinul (acoustic & electric pianos); Victor Gaskin (bass); Roy McCurdy (drums).
Advantages: Good value for money Disadvantages: No lyrics
...What i like about "beg for mercy" is the booklet inside that includes many pictures of g-unit and Lloyd Banks and Young Buck and Curtis 50 Cent Jackson. Inside the booklet it tells you who sings the songs and who it is published by. On the special edition i think you get a bonus track called "Collapse" (G-unit freestyle) but that might be featured on the normal CD. What i didn't like about the cd is that in the booklet it didn't have any lyrics. The layout of the front and back cover is ok, the front picture is Young Buck, Curtis 50 Cent Jackson and Lloyd Banks weighed down with bling. The font of the songs on the back might be hard for some people to read with 50 Cents tattooed hands in the background.
The songs featured on the cd are: 01: G-unit, 02: Poppin Them Thangs, 03: My Buddy, 04: I'm So Hood, 05: Stunt 101, 06: Wanna Get...

...Kind of Blue might have received most of the acclaim but Milestones, the recorded debut of the Miles Davis Sextet, is in the same league. This remarkable super group (featuring Davis's trumpet, tenor-saxophonist John Coltrane, altoist CannonballAdderley, pianist Red Garland, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Philly Joe Jones) was arguably the greatest one Miles Davis ever led. "Two Bass Hit" features the two saxes trading off with fire and "Billy Boy" showcases the Red Garland trio (showing what they learned from Ahmad Jamal), but "Straight No Chaser" really demonstrates what a powerhouse band this was....
