I've always loved this film, and certainly one of the things which made it so remarkable was this excellent score. Ryuichi Sakamoto wrote it on his own, as well as starring in the film as the implacable Captain Yonoi.
The last track Forbidden Colours was remixed to become a very popular pop song which hit the charts (in Japan.) The music is I believe synth music, and it resembles in part piano music, but it is quite fast paced.
Very calming and soothing in parts, and frentic in speed on a couple of tracks, I always listen to this music no matter what my mood is,
An ideal complement to the film itself, I would highly recommend this music, especially to those who are already fans of Ryuichi Sakamoto, or indeed of light relaxing music. I especially recommend the theme tune itself.
