This is an awesome album - I love listening to it and I recommend it to everyone - however you might want to read through the rest of this review and find out if this is an album for you (no intentional rhyme there but hey! Bonus!)

This is one of my angry CD's. It's what I'm likely to be playing if I have had a fight with my mom, because the heavy metal thing is just so my thing when I am in a mood. However probably due to the conditioning effect that I've placed myself in, if I play this when I am feeling stressed then I lose the tension in my lower back and shoulder blades, for a while at any rate! Lol

I like the effects of this CD, all the different songs flow into each other, they are all arranged carefully, the end of 'Foreword' melds with the beginning of 'Don't stay' really nicely, it adds to the feeling of harmony and peace I get from this album! However this could just be because I'm playing from my laptop music files. When I used to play this on my CD player, there was too long a pause between the songs, meaning that I could tell between the beginning and endings, which made the flow of the album much lower in quality!

(Btw - *=Favourite Track)
{Jsyk - Btw = by the way}
[Btw - Jsyk = just so you know]
Jsyk - I ran out of available brackets so I thought I'd quit now! ;) *grins*

Okie, here goes:

The track list for Meteora is as follows:

1. Foreword (0:13)
2. Don't Stay (3:07)
3. Somewhere I Belong (2:55)
4. Lying From You (2:44)
5. Hit The Floor (2:44)
6. Easier To Run (3:24)
7. Faint (2:42)

10. From The Inside (2:55)
11. Nobody's Listening (2:58)
12. Session (2:24)
13. Numb (3:07)

Duration of this CD: 36 minutes 41 secs.

Price: - I've lost the CD case so I don't actually know what price I got this for (having said that was actually a nice presentation for the inlay etc!) found online that its between £6.97-£8.75

Availability: it's been around a while so I don't know whether it is likely to still be in the shops, it's not in the shops around here although HMV did say they may be able to order it in but my best bet would be to have a look on the internet.

Band homepage:

1. Foreword

This starts with a thunderclap, just crashes and bashes; you hear a pipe crashing against something and what sounds like a window breaking which signifies the beginning of 'Don't Stay'

2. Don't Stay*

This starts with breaking glass sound and follows on with a bass beat and guitar, very kick ass, this calms down so that you can hear the vocals but it doesn't completely fade out. It's basically explained in the song title - the singer is telling someone to clear off!
Chorus: Don't stay. Forget our memories forget our possibilities what you were changing me into just give me myself back and don't stay! Forget our memories forget our possibilities, take all your faithlessness with you, just give me myself back and don't stay!
Its a loud song and it resonates something inside me - it could be a brutal relationship where one half had really gone to work on the other half with emotional bullshit and blackmail until the poor person didn't know which way was up or down, or it could be in the case of a friendship with similar power struggles as it can happen between two guys, two girls or a guy and a girl.

3. Somewhere I Belong*

This starts off very calm and makes me feel like I'm walking through a place where I am not really relating to anything - like in a movie when a person gets hit in the head and vision goes blurry and they can't hear anything -the introductory bars definitely have that kind of feel to them. However it goes into a purely kick ass riff and all kinds of turbulence and in a way a 'back to reality' feel come pouring out of your speakers
Chorus: I wanna heal I wanna feel what I thought was never real I wanna let go of the pain I held so long (erase all the pain till it's gone) I wanna find something I wanted all along somewhere I belong
- is this not the typical teen cry out?! You're going through the wonderful storm of puberty and onto better and brighter things? No! You just get deeper into life which has no sign of clearing away from troubled waters and into that wonderful beach resort that you were so sure that you were going to gain at some point in life. It is the basic cry of the masses - where can I fit in and be safe? Where do I belong?

4. Lying From You

The introduction to this has some weird jerky sounds that are beats that have been stretched (I think) then it gets loud and in your face. As far as I can tell from the lyrics this song is how a person tried to fit in and made up a new persona in order to fit in and corrupted some else in the process.
Chorus: I wanna be pushed aside so let me go. Let me take back my life I'd rather be all alo-o-one. Anywhere on my own cos I can sa-a-ay the very worst part of you is me

5. Hit The Floor (*)

This is an ace song! Not particularly loud, the chorus notwithstanding, it's about getting stabbed in the back and how a person is playing other people. The music is quite eerie to begin with, just a basic pulse of guitar in the background duh duh duh duh duh duh duh. I like the way its set up because the verses are calm reasoning or rather cold poison, said in a quiet contemptuous voice sounding so calm and reasonable and threaded with steel. Then you have the chorus which is basically screaming hot bubbling rage like when two people are arguing one person will start off cool and level headed and degenerate into red hot madness
I used to scream along to this when a certain stone cold hearted b*tch used to try and manipulate me - once I got free of her clutches I used to sing this song to remind me not to trust her ever ever again. May sound bitter and all that but I'd rather be bitter than stupid!
'All the lies have got you floating up above us all but what goes has got to fall'

One min you're on top making your heart stop one min you're on top making your heart u think u won and then it's all gone

6. Easier To Run*

Basically this song is saying that it's easier to run away from all your problems rather than face them, however it's not so much advocating the option of running away it's more along the lines of summing up definitely how I have felt in the past - the total and utter helplessness that completely suffuses the body, swamps the mind and binds the soul - you cannot do anything and there is no point to anything. Having said that I actually really do like this song - I don't know why but it's not depressing - it's actually relatively uplifting! Lol, maybe because it's a song theme therefore it's gotta be a relatively common thing - so it's not just me and a few mates that feel like this.

7. Faint

Starts with a drum beat and screechy (yet still in tune) violins. It's about how someone doesn't fit in at all, is a mixture of all the things that no one wants to be and their only person is trying to cut them off - face away and pretend that I'm not but I'll be here cos you're all that I got - and the singer is feeling frustrated and trying to get the message across that although you may not want me I am here and I do need you so don't ignore me! Whilst a good song it's not really a favourite with me however it's not one that makes me get out of bed in order to turn it off so it's not that bad! *grins*

8. Figure 0.9

I took what I hated and made it a part of me - someone who was bitter gave up a part of their 'themness' {lol what a word!} and got warped by something they hated with a passion. 'Giving up a part of me I've let myself become you' - never goes away - basically don't get tat bitter over something - the best revenge is to move on (I know I acknowledged bitterness when talking about Hit the Floor but I don't care anymore)

9. Breaking The Habit*

Chorus: I don't know what worth fighting for or why I have to scream I don't know why I instigate and say what I don't mean I don't know how I got this way I know its not alright so I'm breaking the habit tonight. Lol identify confusion anyone? Trying to break free of old destructive habits

10. From The Inside*

I don't know who to trust no surprise heavy thoughts sift through dust and the lies… these are the opening lyrics which are sung very plaintively, it's about betrayal and deceit and how trying to trust a certain person is very difficult and tiring and it feels so pointless.
'Take every day from the inside and throw it all away cos I swear for the last time I won't trust myself with you.' I like the chorus lyrics because to me at least it's reinforcing the 'what's the point?' feeling of this song cos if you take away the inside of a day then there is practically nothing to it as the outside of the day would be the twilight and night time hours which are usually spent sleeping. Ok that is very important and therefore has worth and meaning however no real and useful actions are committed.

11. Nobody's Listening*

Try to give u warning but everyone ignores me (told you everything loud and clear) but nobodies listening. Call to u so clearly but u don't wanna hear me (told you everything loud and clear) but nobodies listening. Ever feel like that? Like no matter how hard you try to get through to someone and tell them something important you just can't? It just seems impossible at times doesn't it? I usually have this problem with my mom - I never seem to be able to grab the right moments for her - if she's not insanely busy then she's trying to relax can she have five minutes peace please?

12. Session

This is actually completely lacking in vocals! It's a totally instrumental piece that you can mosh to, dancing whatever style that you adopt whether sober or tipsy your choice, it's very funky and cool and astonishingly I've only just realised it has no vocals! Lol it's the merge effect of this CD I guess

13. Numb*

Caught in the undertow - such is life - no matter what I do, I make mistakes in your eyes and I've got so used to being a failure in your eyes that I'm going numb. Again I know this feeling well. It is a cry for independence and worrying about being a failure in someone else's eyes and I enjoy it because it's loud and punchy and I can identify with the way the song makes me feel.

I guess I like this CD so much because I can empathise with the feelings that the songs seemed to be filled with, enjoy listening to them and actually the heavy rock style music actually sooths me to sleep and if I have a headache!

Anyway there it is folks lol hope I've kept you entertained :) ciao4now, Lizzie xxx
