Delirious is a British band that has recently swept America. If you have never heard of them then in comparison they are similar to Oasis or Blur. Indie kind of music that is very mellow. Now I have that short description I will tell you they are Christian singers. Please don't let that put you off. They are excellent and have a lot going for them. They are not your average singers and for those who know nothing about Christian songs they are not all Hymns. These singers are modern and outgoing. I personally love them and would love to go and see them at a concert.
They have written many songs and composed many albums Mezzamorphis being one of many. They are inspired pop worship and it is inspiring listening to their albums. One of the goals that Delirious has is to help teens live for Jesus by encouraging them through modern songs of worship. Mezzamorphis offers many songs some of these are, "Mezzanine Floor," "Metamorphosis," "Love Falls Down," and "Heaven." Mezzamorphis was released on Audio CD in 1996. It is not there most modern CD, but despite that it is excellent.
Delirious are modern and make you feel good. Listening to their
tracks makes you want to get up on your feet and dance. Mezzamorphis hosts sounds of buzz-saw guitars and outer-space-sounding programming. Unlike the first two albums this album really sounds like a true studio professional recording. The first two albums were a little edgy mainly because Delirious didn't have as much experience back then. If you listen to albums written more recently you can definitely hear a progression.
What I love about Delirious is the passion and determination they have for music and putting their band across. The music is clear and easy to listen to. Mezzamorphis took the band 2 years to make. It has paid off because the album is an amazing success. The first two tracks, "The Mezzanine Floor" and "Heaven," Are examples of the perfect work that the band creates when they play together. The band creates choruses and vocals that impress even the hardest to please listener. Listening to them sing takes you away to another level. It is really easy to get inside the bands music. Both of these songs start with hard rock and then level out to create a perfectly smooth sound. "Beautiful Sun," with singer Martin Smith is a ballad. It is a slower song altogether and shows the bands ability to play all types of music. "Love Falls Down" has much more of a grungy sound and is a song you can mellow out to. It's the type of song you listen to at the end of the night when you want to wind down. It has a kind of lethargy to it and nostalgic feeling.
The CD cover of Mezzamorphis is a cool shade of blue. It has the bands name written on then different pictures around a blue globe. One of the pictures is a hand then a man running and lots of other images to feast your eyes on. It gives the impression of a grunge artists CD. So I would say they have the cover correctly balanced to create a feeling of space age which is what I feel they were trying to put across.
This was there first album that wasn't just designed for Christian outlets and I think they have done well at getting the balance right. This CD was the first to hit big market retailers like HMV and also head for mainstream charts.
The band had a good impact on the public and they started to bring out more CD's. They certainly had a good influence on the teens of today, but also older people liked them too. The band was a little different from the norm. They are creative and able to put across something new to the market. It is not often you find artists that are talented as well as diverse and original. This is definitely the way I would describe Delirious.
Most of the songs on Mezzamorphis are under the 5 minute timing.
The Mezzanine Floor
There are some strange far out vocals on this and it makes it even spacier. To give you a taste of the lyrics.
"I'm on the mezzanine floor, Never been here before no no It's a lonely place, But a house full of grace"
Heaven
This one is more heavier, but it is also similar to The Mezzanine Floor in it's lyrics. The song has more of an impact and some great guitar riff's which really set it off. Again a taste of the lyrics.
"I've walked down a road where the devil's been Where the kid's have seen things they should never have seen And the ancient stone knows the deeper tale About a bloody game, they called the holy war"
Follow
This shows off the bands rock creativeness blended in with a ballad. This song repeats itself with the lyrics a number of times, but that makes it catchier. You end up singing it after you have listened to it.
"I've found love, as deep as the ocean, And your eyes, they hit me like a train And your words serenade me like the sweetest of songs Here I find peace again, again"
There are also the other songs on the track, but I think it would be good for you to sample them yourself. If I have got your interest and you are intrigued then go and check out the album. It can be bought from Amazon or from all good music stores. There are also other Delirious albums for you to taste. If you think you will like them what are you waiting for? They are one of my all time favourite bands.
