**Introduction**
Released in 1999 this album was released to mark the Backstreet Boys career up until the Millenium hence it's title. This was the third studio album from the Backstreet Boys and their first where they wrote the majority of the songs. This album is the most succesful album release of their career to date and is one of the biggest selling pop albums of the last ten years or so. I was Fourteen years old at the time of the release and this album was one of my favourites growing up. Nearly ten years on I have decided to review it for all you dooyoo members young and old and all in between. So without further ado. Here it is.
**Track Listing**
1.) Larger than Life
This was a huge hit single for the band and is a high energy pop song which is a great one to dance to. One of their best uptempo tracks. I still like this track nearly ten years on and the music is
very catchy indeed. A great start to the album.
2.) I want it that way
This is a great ballad which was another huge hit for the band. A great chorus is the key to this song and the verses are well done by the individual singer. One of their best singles of their career so far.
3.) Show me the meaning of being lonely
This is a track that shows you there are not just some talentless boyband. A beautiful ballad which has some great vocal harmonies and is one of their best songs they have recorded. I still love this track as it is not something a real boyband would do.
4.) It's Gotta Be You
Back to the uptempo feel here with a very energetic track which has a very catchy feel indeed. This is quite similar in sound to Larger than life but has enough about it to seperate it from the huge hit.
5.) I Need you tonight
This is basically a solo Nick Carter with the rest of the group backing. He shows how his voice has matured as he was the youngest member of the group aged just fifteen when they released their debut album. I need you tonight is A really heartfelt ballad.
6.) Don't want you back
This is another uptempo track but it isnt as much of a dance stomper as the previous uptempo tracks but a very good funky track with lead singing being shared by AJ, Nick and Brian. The backing harmonies are performed well together too.
7.) Don't wanna lose you now
This is a great track which has a gentle feel accompanied by a bass guitar that is key to the opening. This song then develops into a shuffling ballad which has a nice feel without quite reaching the heights of the other ballads on Millenium.
8.) The One
I remember listening to the tape of this track almost throught the whole journey on a school trip. An uptempo track that has a very feel good vibe and the song is about being the one to bring someone out of their comfort zone and treat them well.
9.) Back to your heart
This is a great ballad about saying sorry for what you have done and wanting to get back with someone who you love. Always a great subject when done well like this track is. A great ballad. One of the best on the album with a very gentle feel.
10.) Spanish Eyes
A gentle ballad about the instant attraction when you see a gorgeous women with beautiful eyes. Howie Dorough opens the track and then Brian Litrell then sings the next verse followed by Nick Carter and then AJ McLean who sings the last verse. One of their most integrated tracks.
11.) No One Else Comes Close
This is a cover of Joe Thomas' ballad. This is a more than worthy cover version and not many people were aware that it was a cover version as the song was recorded when Joe wasnt a big star. I love both versions.
12.) The Perfect Fan
This is a tribute to their mothers and is a very nice ballad about how their mothers have given them love and support througout their lives and career. One of the best mother tributes I have heard. A brilliant track to end the album with.
**Overall Opinion**
This is a very good adult pop album and has the right mix of ballads and uptempo tracks and with four huge singles I want it that way, Larger than Life, One and show me the meaning of being loney this is their biggest selling album of their career. I can't still listen to this nearly ten years on as it is not boyband pop
