I got into Joss Stone from 'Fell In Love With A Boy' so naturally rushed to the shops and got 'The Soul Sessions'. Apart from 'The Chokin Kind' 'Dirty Man', and obviously the singles it didnt really have much impact.
Loving 'You Had Me' and loving her voice I bought 'Mind, Body & Soul' on the hope it would be as good as the critics said and more versatile and modern than her latter I wasn't disappointed.
There are some fillers on here 'Less Is More' 'Security' and 'Understand' are examples that dont instantly have the hit factor or longevity in the mind as the rest of the album. But hopefully like 'Sleep Like A Child' they will grow on me and in time i'll be humming away.
Theres only one song I truely dislike and thats 'Jet Lag' it makes me feel like I have it! Its quite dull and doesnt go anywhere and would have been unnoticed if never put on the album but there are some gems on here. For more info read on...
Right To Be Wrong - I love this and as an opener its superb as the intro draws you in for a while before her vocals kick off. Its very chilled but not boring as theres a real mix of instruments in the back ground! The chorus is really sing a long and its quite anthemic in its own way.
You Had Me - Possibly her most upbeat and modern verging on R&B song to date. This was a brilliant showcase for her second album. Its instantly catchy and really shows maturity in voice and style merging R&B with Soul/Jazz effortlessly.
Spoiled - This wasnt instant for me but has grown to possibly being a favourite. Its a smouldering ballad which is self pity too the depths but brilliant cos we've all been there. The vids a bit dodge with her hurtling through a car crash!!!!! Oh dear!
Don'tcha Wanna Ride - Really summery... kinda a sequel to the fabulous 'Super Douper Love'. Very catchy and upbeat.
Young At Heart - My fav! Her vocals are haunting on this track showing she can do Opera (almost) and love the 'oooowoooo's'. This one was the song of the album that stuck in my head for ages.
Snakes & Ladders - Another haunting track but this has atmosphere too. I also just love the title - dont ask why! This one has a very R&B chorus to it yet stays soul in the verses without it sounding odd. Great tune.
Don't Know How - Another good almost R&B song. Lacks the lustre some of the other tracks have but it toe tappingly catchy. Her vocals are excellent again on this.
Torn & Tattered - Kinda kitsch soul, and incredibly catchy yet again! Very very very summery and the chorus is really sultry! I do really like this song. Hope she brings this out this summer.
Killing Time - This song is most like her older stuff very very laid back and chilled. Concentrates on her vocals with a simple but punchy beat.
I cant fault Miss Stone. You can forgive the okay songs for all the detailed ones above as they are all A* in my eyes. A brilliant brilliant second album.

I really must get around to buying this ..... Lisa :~)
Advantages: Lovely Collection of songs, a combination of relaxing and fun songs. Disadvantages: The weakest song is probably 'All the Kings Horses'...However the CD has generally strong tracks.
