Minutes 2 Midnight was released on the 14th May 2007. Minutes to Midnight is named after the doomsday clock that measures how close society is to wiping itself out through war and other selfish acts. This album was different than the others because the music became more mellowed out, still alternative rock but just in a different way. Hybrid Theory and Meteora the two most popular previous albums were full of screaming lyrics and rapping however this album has Chester (the lead singer) is singing more and there is slower music in most of the album. So heres the song list:
1. Wake This is just a short instrumental at the start of the album as kind of an introduction to the CD. It is slow paced and nice to listen to. It sounds like at the start a needle being put onto a record track and then there is piano playing slowing, getting faster and more intense with also then towards the end drums and guitar playing as well.
2.
Given Up This song is very similar to the previous music that Linkin Park used to make, its angry and has Chester screaming lyrics just like before. It's a song about giving up and moving and being your own worst enemy. The music in this song is fast and 'rocky', I love a good guitar riff.
3.Leave out all the Rest This is a slower song which is nice to listen to, its about a dream about going missing nobody really caring except one person, then realising that eventually you will be gone for good and for the person who cared not to be scared and always to remember them. Its a great slow song and really touching.
4. Bleed it Out This is the first time in the album that Mike raps. It's also quite similar to the work that Linkin Park have done in the past. It's also a faster paced song with a lot of scream singing by Chester and rapping by Mike in it. This song is about the war and social responsibility.
5.Shadow of the Day This is another slower song with no scream singing or rapping in it. It's about leaving loved ones to make a new start. I personally think that this is one of the better songs within this album.
6.What I've Done This was the first song that was released off this album. It's medium paced but doesn't have any rapping in it. It's about the war and all the bad things that have happened in history due to greed and un-acceptance.
7.Hands Held High Mike raps on this track the whole way through though it's still a slow paced song with an army like drum roll through out it. This song is about the war and how rich people are the ones who decide that we should go to war and yet poorer people are the ones who suffer.
8.No More Sorrow This is the last fast paced song in this album and has again scream singing by Chester. There is a great face paced song and holds a lot of anger within it saying basically in it that no more sorrow should be made over the war.
9.Valintines Day This song is slow and mellow, the lead singer Chester before releasing this album had split up with his wife and this song is rumoured to be about that.
10. In Between This song is sung by Mike and shows that he has a really nice harmonious singing voice. It's again slow paced and mellowed put which seems to be the direction that this album has mostly taken. This song is one of my favourites from the album.
11. In Pieces This is another song about the breakup of Chester's marriage and how he will be leaving it in pieces. It's another quite screamy song however it is slower paced than other songs of this type. This song is rumoured to also be about Chester's divorce.
12.The Little Things Give You Away This song is the longest song in the album. It has a great solo within it and is really relaxing to listen to. This is also a slower more mellowed out song in this album, it has no rapping or scream singing in it. This is another one of my favourite songs from the album. Members

My Opinion I think that this is a great album filled with great music and a different genre of music for Linkin Park, I enjoyed this album though previous fans may not like as there isn't that many faster rocky tunes in it as they are used to.

Minutes to Midnight stands to defend Linkin Park's status as the hardest-rockin' softies ... more
in mainstream music. Like its predecessors Hybrid Theory (2000) and Meteroa (2003), Minutes to Midnight flexes plenty of decibel-heavy muscle ("Given Up," "Bleed I...

Advantages: Deep, meaningful content and an enjoyable, distinctive sound in some tracks... Disadvantages: ...some of the changes are quite drastic and there's a tendency towards soppy behaviour.
Advantages: The title of the album rocks, This terrible sellout lasts 'only' 43 minutes. Disadvantages: It lasts !!43!! Minutes, every song is horrible, theire new logo sucks too.
Advantages: Shows Linkin Park can completely change and still be as brilliant as ever Disadvantages: Not all fans approve, some disagree with the change.
