Don't be put off by the title Missa Luba 'An African Mass' or think that it's 'too high-brow'! Missa Luba is a wonderful example of African rhythms and percussive instrumentation - drums and shaken gourds - with traditional African 'call and response' melodies together with additional harmonies. Based on the traditional Mass the work consists of just five tracks - Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus Dei - and is just over fifteen minutes long.
The remainder of the recording consists of 10 Kenyan Folk Melodies. These too are as wonderful and refreshing as the Missa Luba .
Ideal for the 'serious' listener, as background music or for those who wish to listen to something a little different.
Go on. Give it a try; you will be glad you did. After all you have nothing to loose but much enjoyment to be gained.
This is my first review and any constructive and helpful comments would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
I've not heard of this but always open to new experiences! Your writing style is neat and concise, which makes it easy to read, but to get higher ratings try putting more detail and feeling in to the review - how does the poetry/music make you feel? What emotions does it evoke? Add that type of information in, plus the info tune57 below suggests, and your reviews will soar! Welcome to Ciao, however!! Markd.

Sorry for the H rating, but you will find (like I did) that you need to include more information to get higher ratings, things like the price, where it's avaliable, that kind of thing. But have to say your first review is a lot better than my first one was. May be worth checking out some of the other CD reviews to get an idea. If you update this then I will be happy to re rate it, just pop me a message in my guest Book. :-)
