Listening to Classic FM on sky one afternoon, heard a song that sounded familiar but wasn't in English. It was Enrique Iglesias' "Hero" being performed by someone I had never heard of in a language I didn't understand. The voice, the emotion, the sound, all made me stop what I was doing and watch. The man sings from the heart, there's no mistaking it, this man sings from the heart.
Track listing is as follows..
EROE: Hero LA FORZA DENTRO ME: (Something inside) So strong PER CHI: Without you LA NOSTRA FAVOLA: Delilah LEI: She OGNUNO SOFFRE: Everybody hurts DA SOLO NO: All by myself LA PAROLA PIÚ DIFFICILE: Sorry seems to be the hardest word ADESSO: I want to know what love is FAI QUEL CHE VUOI: Whatever you want CERCA L'EROE DENTRO TE: Search for the hero IERI A LEI: Yesterday LA PRIMA VOLTA: The first time ever I saw your face 'O SOLE MIO
Have always turned my nose up at opera... usually referring to it as "Belly ache music", but this album, songs familiar to me, performed in operatic style with a full orchestra behind it... fair brought tears to my eyes. More surprising for me though was the fact that my sons enjoy this album too. Why is that surprising? Because they are 16 and 13.
I bought Tony Henry with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Modern Arias from HMV over here in the UK and I paid £16.99
If anything happened to this CD I would have no qualms about buying a replacement.

Sounds intriguing. I'm not sure that I'd count it as opera, but if I explained why, this comment would be very, very long, but it does sound like something I might like. David

I acquired this CD, not too sure where from, but could well have been courtesy of Classic FM. I wholeheartedly agree that it brings a new dimension to opera! CBx
