Advantages: Excellent Film Disadvantages: Not many
Recently there was an article which really sparked my emotions, both sadness and anger, surprisingly it was in The Sun (the most professional and reliable of the daily papers) the article was on the sate of Somalia and the history of the wars going on in the country.
Quoted in the article was a film called Black Hawk Down, which I had heard of but never, had the opportunity to watch and had no clue about, later on when in discussion on the article, somebody brought the film up and highly recommended it.
Buying the Film
I bought the film in Blockbuster when I was returning a rental; it cost £4 which I thought was highly reasonable for a DVD, especially one which was recommended and according to the front of the DVD won two Oscars, and looked to carry an exciting cast set.
Director
The film is directed by a man called Ridley ...
Advantages: Believable, enchanting, cle ver, unique and unusual. Definitely cant put it down! Disadvantages: Not a children's book and not really anything like The Wizard of Oz (good thing in my books).
Wicked-By Gregory Macguire, is in essence the prequel to The Wizard of Oz. It's kind of a biographical account of Elphaba (the wicked witch of the west) and gives us the story from her perspective. In effect, this story is supposed to tell us how she became wicked.
Although I hated The Wizard of Oz, I adored this book and will be definitely reading the follow up book 'Son of a witch'-which unless I am mistaken, is about Elphaba's son.
This story is really so clever conceptually and is written brilliantly. It isn't a childrens story though, although I believe some mid-teen goths may really enjoy it! It is an in depth and touchingly realistic look at a young girl who grows up with a physical disfigurement. It shows how she lives with it and how she deals with other peoples prejudice. In this way the book is still applicably in ...

Album Notes
Audio Mixers: Adam Pierce; Jeremy Backofen. Meredith Godreau is behind the G & H moniker, and now this native New Yorker, who was plucked out of obscurity by FatCat, has rewarded the indie label with the assured MOENIE & KITCHI, produced by Mice Parade's Adam Pierce. Musically inspired by songwriter legends like Nick Drake, its personality is shaped by contemporary female icons like PJ Harvey, with producer Pierce getting considerable credit for adding alternately lush and tense atmosphere to conceptually spare tracks like "Wild West." But ultimately Godreau's voice is all her own, tiny and beautiful, able to elevate above (as in "West") or carefully blend into the overall stride of songs like the Juliana Hatfield-esque "Ghost."
