Album Notes: This Dutch compilation includes Melanie's renditions of rock classics like Kansas' \"Dust In the Wind,\" Bob Seegar's \"We've Got Tonight,\" and Culture Club's \"Do You Really Want To Hurt Me.\"
Advantages: Its the most summery album of the year yet! Disadvantages: People will be funny about it cos she was a Spice Girl!
...… angel, its your turn to fly". This is a very touching song filled with vocal emotion. I've not heard Melanie Brown sound better.
It all goes very Spice Girls camp quickly with the salsa and samba of 'Music Of The Night (Perdido)'. Its almost a nod to Emma Bunton's 'Crickets Sing For Ana Maria' and Geri's 'Passion' and 'Spice Up Your Life' all in one barmy ditty. Very summery, very camp, very specific taste.
'If I Had My Time Again' is very retrospective of her life. Would you change any thing in life? Do you have regrets… these questions are all covered "if you had your life again, would you change a thing?" its nice. It's not as raw as 'Beautiful Girl' but its another pretty piano ballad.
Pop, pop, pop with sweeping violins and strings from 'In Too Deep'. "In too deep, I'm yours to keep, just let me in, I'll stay a while, maybe you...

Advantages: A step away from the world into listening. Disadvantages: Not known enough today.
...New Key", an upbeat song about discoveries as a child, the "Nickel Song", which is a bouncy song that tells the story of how commercial success makes an artist a bought and paid for commodity, and "What have they done to my song, ma ?", these are not the best representations of what Melanie meant to her many listeners, although the songs that follow are.
"Beautiful People" is one of her most loved songs, and her somewhat innocent and childlike quality of voice is ideal for a song like this. What amazes me about this song and others is her ability to go from high notes to low notes with seemingly little effort, and the effect that her voice, accompanied by accoustic guitar has, is that of sincerity. The song takes you through the questions you ask as a child about all the people that live in the world, although the lack of communication...

Advantages: Another quality album from Ms Chisholm Disadvantages: Too different from her debut Northern Star
...angst on her debut.
“Positively Somewhere” is an album stand out track. Another feel good song in which Melanie sings about “Falling down a freeway”.
“Melt” is my personal favourite. One half of the third single release it sadly only managed a top 30 chart position. (This was partly due to lack of promotion & a poor video due to Melanie’s “The Games” injury and poor distribution). Melanie wrote this lovable ballad with Guy Chambers who has written for Robbie Williams in the past. “Melt” is a memorable track which has a fantastic melody. It should have been the lead off single.
“Do I”, “Soul Boy”, “Water” and “Home” are the four tracks following on from Melt on the disc. “Soul Boy” is probably my least favourite on the disc. It’s the only cover and can make you feel very sleepy…. These four tracks may have stood out better had...
