The Network are a band of mystery, no one really knows how they formed or even the real identities of the band. It has of course been rumoured that the band is a side project of Green Day and that three of the members of The Network are Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day vocals and guitar), Mike Dirnt (Green Day bass and vocals) and Tre Cool (Green Day drums and vocals). However, as The Network wear masks to cover their faces and the 'rumour' has been strongly denied by both bands, we can't be entirely sure just yet.

If you are buying this album because you are a Green Day fan you may find yourself disappointed. Money Money 2020 is a far cry from the pop-punk rock style of Green Day, instead The Network explore a more new-wave style. Despite this I'll admit the similarities between the two bands can be found. For example the album had me laughing from start to finish in a similar way that several of Green Day's earlier tracks did. And even though the style is so different it is incredibly easy to recognise the voice of Billie Joe Armstrong on several of the tracks on the album.

The album is designed not to be taken seriously, the tracks feature characters such as Joe Robot, Transistors Gone Wild, drug addicted teenagers called Spike and of course not forgetting Hungry, Hungry Models and Supermodel Robots. The last track contains one of the most memorable lines from the album 'Not quite a fembot but almost an alien.' Every song is unique and this is what makes the album such a fun listen. One of the stand out tracks on the album has to be the cover of Teenagers from Mars by The Misfits. The song fits so well with the crazy, robotic and alien style of The Network.

Overall I think I may just be addicted to this album. Despite the fact that I have owned this album for almost a year, it has rarely left my CD player. The only words that can really be used to define this album are entertaining, fun and insane. A word of warning though, as you may be able to guess from some of the titles on the track listing, if you are easily offended I would not recommend this album to you, the humour can be quite crude and may be shocking to those who are not expecting it. However, if you are a fan of bands such as Tenacious D, or are just looking for something different to listen to, I would definitely recommend this album to you.
