Advantages: Well written Disadvantages: Disturbing subject matter
I have ran out of books to read recently, and my daughter who is a right book-worm, has kindly given me a few to read.
This book - MonsterLove by Carol Topolski is one of them.
The story centres around married couple Brendan and Sherilyn Gutteridge. A couple who are soulmates in every sense of the word, and totally wrapped up in each other. They both have great jobs and have climbed the ladder at the same firm where they met, and live in an expensive house and have expensive tastes.
To the outside world, they are a couple so in love, and they keep themselves to themselves. However, are always very polite to everyone they meet.
The only time they appear to socialise is when attending or holding work-related dinner parties, drinks parties etc, where they are always attentive and polite.
The perfect couple it seems.
That is until ...
friends with Mike Wazowski and the pair always manage to generate the most power. A fellow employee Randall is jealous of their success and Mike and Sulley catch him one night creepy round the factory and messing about with children's doors.
To cut a long story short a small very cute child called Boo ( named by Sulley who becomes very attached) enters the monsters world via her door which sets alarm bells ringing when the monsters find out because they fear for their safety. Mike and Sulley on the over hand become very attached to her and do anything in their power to help her return home through her own door.
The film in my opinion is excellent. I think this is Pixar's best film. I love the characters. It is such a well put together film and the whole story is brilliant . The animation looks so real. I really like the character Sulley ...
Anybody that knows me by now knows that I watch a lot of children?s movies. I have explained before but I get forced you know? One minute I can be watching the footie, the next I?m invaded by the rest of the family who abruptly turn the TV onto the DVD channel, shove a bowl of popcorn in the middle of the room and bind and gag me for the following 90 minutes or so. This happened only recently with the millionth re-run of Monsters. Inc. In fact, it took me back to the time we saw it originally back in 2001??
Can you believe it? There I am standing in the queue for my seat tickets at my local UCG and there are a couple of strange looking fellas in front of me. One of 'ems a large, furry guy with broad shoulders and blue fur. The other is a small, green round chap with one large eye. They're both carrying plastic tubes in their hands ...
