Advantages: Great singer, next album coming out in Britain! Disadvantages: She left Operacion Triunfo in 14th place
electric guitars help a lot. 8/10
9. Puro Teatro (Pure Theatre). The title track is not what we'd imagine it to be. It is Spanish theatre which is a lot different. Spanish theatre in Andalucia includes a lot of people singing, guitars and pianos. Cristie's voice is flamencan again. This voice sounds to a westerner very weird, but when you get into to it, it is amazing. 8/10
10. No Más (No More). Another Cristie 80s mix. Not much to say here. The fact that there are a lot of midi violins might help 2/10
11. Solo Tuya (Only You). As on many Spanish singer's albums, the last track is their own, and Cristie has this. Cristie is singing Flamencan, but it works. Two guitars are panned to each side, and that is all the song is. It is fluent, and ace. 9/10
AV. 7.09/10.

Advantages: Monteverdi's music, gorgeous musical performance Disadvantages: Lots of cuts
Claudio Monteverdi is widely regarded as the father of opera. Only 3 of his survive today. Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria (The Return of Ulysses to His Homeland) is the 2nd oldest, having premiered in 1640.
Ancient masterpieces age like fine wine. Musically this opera is full of simple beauties. The only scores that exist contain the vocal lines and the bass (continuo) line.... and that's it. The rest of the orchestration is interpolated. I think Nikolaus Harnoncourt does a marvelous job at that, and the period instruments orchestra delivers beautifully.
Unlike later Baroque opera, there is no show-stopping aria, but the music is very drama-oriented, moving very smoothly from each arias and ensemble pieces. The opera proper is preceded by an allegorical prologue that tells of the fragility of man against the will of the gods ...
Advantages: Willie's sweet voice and stinging guitar Disadvantages: It's not twice as long
The music: clean, uncluttered introspective. The songs: conveying the stark, sere, loneness of the singer. It's been called "blue collar blues" and I'd call it that, too, more than I'd call it country music. Only three of the songs are new, written in the 1990s, the rest are refashioned from the 1960s, and the 30 years in between scarcely matter. The songs were chosen and pieced together to tell the story of obssessive love or convey the concept of domestic abuse, whichever way you want to see it. And they do succeed in working together. They succeed in taking hold of your heart and grabbing onto it hard.
Somehow, in Willie Nelson's mature voice, the older songs take on a new edge and freshness. Emmy Lou Harris's background voice deepens the poignancy and works sweetly with Willie's. Hers is the ghostly voice of the victim and ...
