Advantages: A collection of the early and best works of The Eagles. Disadvantages: Stay away if you don't fancy getting saddle sore....
...When we understand the true origins of Country music, being, fundamentally British Celtic/Folk music brought over to the Promised land by the British immigrants, our frowns grow ever deeper lines in our faces, particularly when we listen to a band like The Eagles.
Our big grinned, all American cheeseburger eating, beer swilling trucker types grew from humble beginnings in the glamorous streets of L.A, in the very early seventies. Formed by Don Henley and Glenn Frey, they had already had experienced successful acclaim as a part of the Linda Ronstadt's band. And had also recorded with her on her 'Silk Purse' album in 1970. The big name to appear in the line up and who went on to achieve greater solo success was their drummer and vocalist Don Henley. Advantages: The Classic Genesis Line-up In All Their 70s Glory Disadvantages: For Hardcore Fans Only
...for the live version of "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" (recorded at the Shrine Auditorium in New York, 1975), it doesn't really detract from the feel. One tends to forget how good all five musicians were in this group. It's nice to hear Phil Collins' drum sound how it was meant to - live, loud and moody! The sound production means this live release which takes up half of the Archive is arguably better than the studio original - it is also punctuated with introductions and stories by Gabriel himself.
Disc 3 is also of particular interest although for the life of me I cannot understand why other tracks recorded at the Rainbow gig are not included here. Many fans could not believe that "Battle of Epping Forest", for example had been ommited.

Advantages: Consistant quality Disadvantages: A couple of tracks let it down
...Released in 2000, "My Name Is Joe" is the thrird album from the R&B singer Joe (Thomas). I feel that it it wasn't for my father's taste of music, I would have never have heard of Joe, because he is really underrated outside of this genre of music, but in this category, he is (or was) one of the best in the game, so he should be showed a lot more respect.
"Intro (My Name Is Joe)"
"Somebody Gotta Be on Top"
Although this song deals with all the typical things which you would expect to hear from a track such as this, it doesn't really have the power which you get to see in other parts of the album, so it is just a second rate version of the rest of the songs here. However as he is consistantly strong, it means that the overall quality isn't effected as it doesn't sound that poor away from this album.
**Three Stars...
