Advantages: No Place Compares Disadvantages: Volcano threat at Present
I am surprised that no one has written about the beautiful island of Montserrat and how it was before the terrible volcano.
Montserrat is a small island in the west indies, (roughly 4 miles round) very close to Antigua and Barbuda which you can see from Montserrat on a clear day (which is usually)!
The Island has much greenery and is named the Emerald Isle. This stems from when the island had Irish inhabitants during the times of the Slave Trade. There are still Irish influences on the island, especially when you notice the Montserratians surnames.
There is also a strong English influence on the island, place names such as Plymouth (it's capital) and the sight of Red phone and letter boxes.
Much of the island is greenery, and the roads are dirt tracks; there are no traffic lights on the island.

Advantages: Weather, tranquility, people, diving, volcano Disadvantages: cost and volcano

There are a couple of option f getting there and I chose to use the excellent train service which takes les than an hour and saves having to navigate the early morning congestion to get out of Barcelona. Departing from Placa D? Espanya you want the R5 line to Manresa and the combined train and cable car journey up the mountain cost about 14 euro if I remember ...
