Advantages: Tasty, easy-to-drink Disadvantages: I can't think of a single one
Mrs P and I had a couple of nights break down in North Yorkshire a few weeks ago, and very nice it was too. But that's as never-no-mind. The only reason I'm mentioning it is because while there, I hunted down a few rare, and not-so-rare samples of the local produce, beer-wise, that is.
One of the less rare beers was PALERIDER, which I could've bought at my local store, but I didn't. I think the fact that traipsed nearly 200 miles to buy it (not specifically, of course) proves my dedication to the cause.
The KELHAM ISLAND BREWERY of Sheffield began life in 1990 and in fact, was the first new independent brewery to be built in the city this century. Since then all of Sheffield's larger brewing concerns have closed down, which ironically (no pun intended) now also makes it Sheffield's largest brewery.

Advantages: A flavoursome and full bodied beer that never disappoints. Disadvantages: Deceptively strong! Difficult to get outside the brewery catchment area.
It might surprise you to find out that we went for a few drinkies on New Years Eve! We trooped out in the snow and wind to The Derby Tup on Whittington Moor (one of Chesterfield?s leading Real Ale pubs) to meet friends and have some food and some decent beer. There is always a pretty good selection of around 5 or 6 different beers and we usually end up trying a few while there. This New Year we tried JHB, Easy Rider and XB, but our favourite (and incidentally the strongest) was PaleRider.
~~~THE BREWERY.
PaleRider is produced by The Kelham Island Brewery which is based near to the Fat Cat pub on Alma Street in Sheffield. They started up in 1990 using equipment from Oxford Brewery and they became the first new brewery to start up in Sheffield in the twentieth century.
Increased success (and production) meant that they had ...
Advantages: Clint Eastwood fitting his character wonderfully. Disadvantages: Not much in the way of surprises in the plot.
I'm not one for long reviews of films and picky details about the cast. It's easy to find those details if you want (e.g. www.imdb.com).
No spoilers to watch out for here, I think, just a general overview of the film :-)
** THE FILM **
This isn't the same kind of western as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly; For a Fistful of Dollars; or For a Few dollars More. Those films (while I love them very much for their style), I can understand why many people would find them slow and consequently boring.
PaleRider is rather a western that should still appeal to lovers of the aforementioned films, but also those who prefer a more obvious plot and their idea of action and drama aren't tense stand-offs before a gunfight.
The film begins with a small community of gold-prospectors who are being terrorised by a more wealthy and industrial ...
