Air's first album is... very difficult to describe well. The problem is that it's unlike anything you'll probably have heard before. Think French, think 70's, think electronic, think dreamy, other-worldly, and you'll be getting some way there. On first listening, it doesn't amount to much - if anything you just think it's quite clichéd as a French album. And it is; but the band takes the clichés and does something with them to somehow make them sound really very listenable to. Highlights include the hit single 'Sexy Boy', 'La Femme d'Argent' and 'You Make It Easy' - but all the tracks are in the same mould, infused with a very laid-back sense. The band is an acquired taste, but stick with this album and you'll learn to love it.
