This is the benchmark against which I mark other albums.
It was when listening to this album in the car one day that I was inspired by it. The simplicity of the piano arpeggios in "Kelly Watch The Stars" made me look at my own composition that I was in the process of writing in a completely different way.
This music is not only very good background music but is also excellent for listening to in detail. Everytime I listen to it I find something new and exciting that I havn't heard before. The electronic effects are used with subtlety and musical intent unlike so many other artists who use such effects regardless of how appropriate they are just to prove that they can use them.
Each song on the album has it's own identity whilst at the same time fitting together to form a jigsaw puzzle of how a perfect album should sound. It is consistent yet not repetitive.
Some of the sounds in "Moon Safari" can also be heard in their previous album "Premiers Symptomes" but in "Moon Safari" they are more refined. It is almost as if "Premiers Symptomes" is an earlier stage of ideas through which "Moon Safari" has evolved. This music is stylish and tranquil, it is a very special collection of music.
Air create music of a very distinct French sound. In their highly individual use of conventional instruments combined with electronic sounds they have created their own niche within the ambient sub-genre of electronic music.
Having not listened to this album for a few weeks, returning to it was similar to how I would imagine a smoker feels when taking a drag on a long awaited fag. Unlike smoking however "Moon Safari" is a far more worthwhile and positive experience.

Superb first op - my housemate loves this album, so I get to hear it every now and again LOL! I have to admit it's a bit too weird for my tastes (I'm learning!), but I can cope with the seminal 'Kelly Watch The Stars'. Great stuff - I look forward to reading your stuff in the future!

I've decided I now quite like this album, apart from Sexy Boy which I will always hate. Oh, and Air slagging off guitar bands didn't impress me much either :)
PS - Are you connected with Mr Fanclub in anyway?
