...Dark Side of the Moon was released nearly 30 years ago, in 1973, but as the state of music has rapidly evolved, this masterpiece still sounds fresh, relevant and groundbreaking to this day. This is one of the most talked about classics, which makes it something of a challenge to review, as so much has been written about dark side!
By 1973, Pink Floyd already had a lot of superb material under their belt. The playful Syd Barret Psychedelic material (singles like See Emily Play & Arnold Layne, and their debut album, Piper at the Gates of Dawn) was definitely ahead of its time, and in 1971 released the spacey ‘Meddle’, famous for the 20-minute epic, ‘Echoes’. Arguably, turn of the decade Pink Floyd was the most ‘interesting’ music, more progressive than anything on Dark Side.
So, what gives Dark Side of the Moon its classic status...

Advantages: All time classic tracks, great feel Disadvantages: None I could find
...on a white background, CD 2 has – you guessed it white stars on a blue background.
In the box is 32 page booklet, with photos of the tour, the back page has the track listings with the timings, and who wrote the tracks.
On some of the pages are headlines from newspapers published during the tour, such as “McCartney’s performance was truly masterful” San Jose Mercury.
There are “Tour Memories” written by each member of the band
It all struck me a pretty self-congratulatory really

Advantages: A whole range of diverse and brilliant rock albums Disadvantages: Some of the tracks are perhaps a tad too similar
...It's fair to say that I like to listen to some very unusual bands that are certainly not mainstream in their country of origin, let alone here in the UK.
It's also fair to say that Alter Bridge are not mainstream which, by my account, is a great shame.
Why, I hear you cry? Well, it's simple; the talented four piece's first album, 'One Day Remains', is spectacular, ranging from gentle rock ballads to hardcore head banging tracks and songs of hope even in the darkest hour of a persons day.
One of the most amazing things about the band is lead singer Myles Kennedy (formerly of Mayfield Fours) voice; powerful yet extremely tender, his singing helps you to focus on the place where main song writer, guitarist Mark Tremonti, was when creating lyrics for each track.
