Advantages: quality new age rock with irish type twist Disadvantages: not good if you dont like new rock music
...Ocean Avenue, A quality album from a somewhat disillusioned band. Their previous work was somewhat poor and I was not expecting this album to be so good. The album is consistent throughout, there being no weak links or terrible songs. The openers Way Away and Believe are fast in pace and get you into the album very well. The album quietens down slightly with Ocean Avenue and Empty Apartment which signify the beginning of lyrically styled punk opera surrounding a woman whcih is followed on to Only One and Miles Apart. The album ends with a excellent song leaving you feel somewhat moved, if you like the type of music and can understand the lyrics!!!
Certainly a quality album and a surprise considering the inconsistentcy of their previous material....

Satan lends his support Review ofNumber Of The Beast, The [ECD] - Iron Maidenby
tonguelessghostofsin
Advantages: Groundbreaking album for the heavy metal genre Disadvantages: Production 'iffy'
...Metallica, they beat you to the punch!), with a ball of flame in one hand, and Satan on puppet strings in the other, holding an 'Eddie' dummy on strings himself in what looks like a wasteland of burning souls and vultures, is a tribute to horror classic 'The Omen'. 1. 'Invaders'
Bruce makes himself known straight away, with this tale of Vikings looting and pillaging, penned by Harris. Due to contractual obligations, Bruce wrote no material for this particular album, but his voice took Maiden to epic new heights. No note too high, and this strange-sounding chorus was unlike what Maiden had done before. A rampaging...

...Quorthon and BATHORY continue right where "Nordland I" had left off, with the Viking Metal that this band had created back in the times of a "Hammerheart" and "Twilight Of The Gods" and which has inspired countless bands ever since and which they had taken up again with "Nordland Il".
1. Fanfare is a Viking-ish intro.
2. Blooded Shore, which brings us all the trademarks of this side of the BATHORY sound, measured tempo, majestic and epic melodies, Quorthons trademark vocals and the big choirs, the seemless continuation of the previous album.
3. Sea Wolf, Very Viking intro, again Quorthons trademark vocals, gives a very viking been on the sea feeling.
4. Vinland, starts with a killer riff, very majestic
5. Death And Resurrection Of A Northern Son, speeds things up a bit, also with vocal performance of Quorthon in the verses...
