Feast.

Advantages: A film
Disadvantages: too gory

FEAST. This is a gory horror fest of, well, people trapped in a bar for the night and being attacked by flesh eating monsters. That really is the entire plot of this movie as the strangers fight for their lives and endure attack after attack by hungry and sadistic monsters. We see, feet shot gun blasted off, a guys face torn off, squashed head, eyes exploding outwards, the list is endless. This is one of the bloodiest and gory films I have ever seen and it was still rubbish! OK the acting was actually very good and the atmosphere was dank and threatening with the sound volume making you jump but it was just all so wrong. The dialog was poor, the premise for the movie in the first place was weak and the blood and guts flying everywhere was just way over the top. Watch this film at your peril and by that I mean you ...

Review of Feast (DVD)

Feast On This!

Advantages: Great recipes, descriptive, Chocolate Cake Hall of Fame
Disadvantages: Inappropriate comments relating to vegetarianism, wordy style not for everyone

This is a cookbook for people who love food, as opposed to your bog-standard 'this is how to cook' books. It has a beautiful layout with the emphasis on words rather than pictures, which could be a disadvantage if you prefer to know what your creation should look like at every stage in the process - all pictures are of the finished product, with the exception of a few of Nigella laughing/smiling/pretending to have fun. It's called Feast because the focus is on the meaning of foods that we eat and share on special occasions, from traditional offerings like turkey at Christmas to gorgeous cakes. It is split into sections named after the occasion rather than the type of foods, so it's 'Easter' and 'Passover' and 'Eid' rather than 'Starters', 'Main Course' and Desserts'. There are a few exceptions though - vegetarians, being neglected in ...

Review of Feast - Nigella Lawson

Heston's Feast - A gastronomic adventure through the ages

Advantages: So inventive and entertaining
Disadvantages: The guests are a bit 'D list'

This innovative series was the brainchild of part chef, part mad scientist (all food enthusiast) Heston Blumenthal. Head chef at one of the world's top restaurant's, The Fat Duck, Blumenthal has made a name for himself in ambitious and experimental cookery. This reputation is part of what made me watch this interesting series about weird and wonderful recipes through the ages. The other part is the two word phrase repeated in the advertisements that cannot help but spark curiosity: 'ejaculating cake'. I decided that I needed to see what that was all about! The series was in four parts with each episode covering a different historical period. VICTORIAN FEAST: This was my favourite of all the feasts. Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Heston created a pink drink that has all of the flavours you might find in the weird and wonderful ...
