Some Stories End, Others Have False Starts
Review of We Must Burn [Remastered] - Poison Idea by  Champ666

Advantages: Wonderfull Hardcore at Its Brutal Best
Disadvantages: Not For Mass Consumption

...For sheer hardcore punk brilliance you don't get much better than Poison Idea, leading a lifestyle that would have killed lesser mortals. In the 90's the band released a holy trinity of classic albums. We Must Burn is one of the three must have Poison Idea Albums. Recorded between March and October 1992 with the classic line up of Jerry A. (Vocals), Pig Champion (Guitar), Mondo (Guitar), Myrtle Tickner (Bass), and Thee Slayer Hippy (Drums). This album is a fine example of punk and metal being combined to great effect, a lot of fans dislike this one because of the more metal nature of the albums, but where as the music is more metal than punk, lyrically it is pure nihilistic punk rock…… fantastic stuff in my book……….. Don't Ask Why Pig and Mondo's guitars blast away a brutal metal attack, Hippy Slayers Drumming is inspired... Read review

At Midnight My Black Heart's Fading .... Blue
Review of Feel The Darkness - Poison Idea by  Champ666

Advantages: Kings of Punk
Disadvantages: None

...in flames", but then Hardcore has never really had nice lyrics about puppies and flowers. As ever the twin guitar assault is simply superb. "Welcome to Krell" is a speed freaks nightmare of a track, and sound like motorhead on even more amphetamines "I don't believe in god I haven't for some time, so I'll Just do another dime" Skipping a few tracks now onto the end of the album we have the title track feel the darkness which starts off with some impressive drum and bass work with Myrtle and Hippy Slayer showing just what they are capable of. It is an epic punk/hardcore/metal beast of a track and a great way to end the album.. This definitely will not be for every one but Poison Idea were true groundbreakers in fusing Hardcore/Punk/Metal together. Their twin guitar attack has been copied by many other bands but never to the same effect... Read review

50ft. Junkies From Outer Space
Review of Blank Blackout Vacant [Remastered] - Poison Idea by  Champ666

Advantages: Classic Legendary Hardcore
Disadvantages: Will Not Fit Into the Easy Listening Section

...This album is one of Portland's least favorite sons and Kings Of Punk Poison Idea's classic albums which along with "We Must Burn" and "Feel The Darkness" forms a (un)Holy Trinity of classic Hardcore Punk albums from the band. What is better is those wonderful people at Golf Records have re-released it with addition tracks from the ultra rare "Religion and Politics" EP. The line up of PI has always been volatile due to excessive bickering and backstabbing. As a band they make the Ramones look like a fully functioning Happy Family. The line up for this record was the classic one of: - Jerry A. (vocals); Mondo (guitar, piano); Pig Champion (guitar, recorder, background vocals); Myrtle Tickner (bass, harmonica, background vocals); Thee Slayer Hippy (drums, percussion, background vocals), and it also weighed the best part of 2 tons...
