Advantages: A rollercoaster of an album Disadvantages: None
...way point before ending ith more pounding drums and grinding riffs, robb flynns vocals flip from gruff shouty vocals to melodic singing throughout the song.
Take My Scars - This starts with some fantastic harmonics that leads into a gutteral roar from flynn again the drums are pounding before logan maders guitar scratching sounds like a Dj is doing it, flynns vocal start and again it's gruff shouty mixed with melodic singing
the main guitar riff ... ...a rolling bass sound no more be said for the drums there excellent double peddling accompanying the harmonics of the guitar well, flynns vocals start with him proclaiming bow down to no one, straight up throaty vocals here, before more of logan maders scratchy guitar riffs, the song then speeds a little with the main riff and faster drumming before again breaking back down into the chrous and slowing down for the end.

Advantages: A brutal and masculine barrage of power and adrenalin Disadvantages: Some sameness in musical repetition with some tracks
...The cd album is packaged in the special "digipack" format, which is a robust cardboard-based booklet with lots to look at.
Horrific photos of people who are victims of violence and war, maimed and disfigured are displayed on the cover. The shock of these photos makes you wonder if the music will be just as traumatising.
There are photos of the band members kneeling together and standing head shoulder shots also. The entire digipack is coloured in an orange-bronze tint. The actual cd is also bronze coloured, displaying the same-bandaged hands of a victim of some unknown horror that's on the front cover.
The album, because it is a special edition (limited edition), it has bonus tracks: 11,12,13. Which do give this album even more substantial credence and collectable appeal. This album is self aware of the high worth of it...

To support the release of MachineHead's second full-length effort, The MoreThingsChange, in 1997 Roadrunner would release this 4 track, Euro-only digi-pack CD-5 which features "Take my Scars" and an enjoyable run through Nirvana's "Negative Creep." In addition, the CD-5 also includes demo versions of the colossal "Ten Ton Hammer" and "Struck a Nerve." These last two songs in particular sound absolutely riveting in their four-track demo versions. It's amazing to hear just how good this band had...

Album Reviews: Q (5/97, p.124) - 3 Stars (out of 5) - "...THE MORE THINGS CHANGE...is dominated by speed-of-light drumming, droning sub-sonic bass and colossal wedges of heavyweight maltreated guitars....the sound of a dentist's drill midway through the album almost offering a calming influence."
