His voice is thin and nasal, his piano playing is swingin' but not spellbinding. A gift for songwriting is what sets Allison apart--his sardonic lyrics are often filled with hilarious wit and acrobatic wordplay and his arrangements are vibrant mix of jumpin' jazz and urbane R&B. Recorded live at London's Pizza Express, the 17 songs here are culled from the breadth of Allison's illustrious career with a few Ellington covers (including "Lucky So and So" and "Do Nothing Till You Hear from Me") and the blues classic "Baby Please Don't Go" added for good measure. The band is right with Allison throughout, with guitarist Jim Mullen prominently featured. Adeptly capturing Allison at his best, Live in London, Volume 2 is certainly one for the fans, but it's not a bad place to start either. --Tad Hendrickson
Advantages: good to build the early vibes at a party Disadvantages: gets a bit boring towards the end
...a nice cd to listen to when you want to recall back in the day with the tunes such as zim zimma.
ARP are quite influential on this album too.
the foundation tune i found was the most enjoyable track . Ras Moses is one of the most artistic entertainers in the business and this is an album which emphsises this. Although i have found that more recent albums have been more thought provoking and enjoyable. U will also find that there is not much reference to the old arch enemy Bounty Killa, as you would find in albums of a later date but there is still plenty of fun to be had throughout the album. Overall i would say this is quite a decent album by the man....

Advantages: Loads of great tracks Disadvantages: None really!
...Teedra Moses is a name that will be unfamiliar to a lot of people, even those who claim to be a fan of R&B will struggle to recall a time at which they have stumbled upon Miss Moses. Allow me to enlighten you. Teedra Moses was born in Louisiana, New Orleans and later moved to California, daughter to gospel singer Shirley Moses.
Complex Simplicity was the debut album from the girl who formally worked as a wardrobe assistant for the likes of R&B superstars R Kelly & Kelis amongst others. It has to be said, what a debut it is. The purest form of R&B beautifully executed and 100% underground, and extremely credible.
01. Be Your Girl

The album kicks off with the highly addictive and sexually charged 'Be Your Girl'. A gorgeous track with a tried and tested themed. Vocally this is delivered so wonderfully...
