Album Reviews: Uncut (p.113) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[H]is mesmerizing guitar and her warm, breathy voice draw you in one more time, to a for once genuinely 'folk' world."
Advantages: Showcases Brians vocals quite well, some catchy tracks, Disadvantages: Wont appeal to all, BSB fans and others, some tracks slightly 'filler'
...- Introduction -
Brian Littrell is well known as being one of the Backstreet Boys, one of the biggest selling boy bands of the 1990s.
Anyone who has been a fan of his or has read many interviews with him from the start, will be aware that his faith is pretty important to him and plays a big part in his life. When asked what he might have been, had he not become a member of the group, he has often said that he would have gone on to become a youth minister or something similar and he has also stated from early on that if he were to do a solo project, it would likely involve his faith and that he would like to make an accessible records that would hopefully bring religion and faith to perhaps non religious people, such as some Backstreet Boys fans.
Brians first solo album, entitled Welcome Home, was finally released in the US...

Advantages: Original-CHEAP!!! Disadvantages: Possibly too wierd....
...nicely until the weird noises come back… It's not necessarily a problem with the track but the words are almost uninterpretable though I think she realised this as the lyrics are printed in the inside cover of the album.
"Deer Stop" has one of the best tunes on the album but what has been done to Goldfrapp's voice is easily enough to ruin it some sort of roboticness has interfered.. This track for me is a major disappointment, it is one of the best as regards originality and harmony but the effects that have been layered over her singing are cringe worthy. I say original because the track doesn't have a synth as the dominant background instrument, a piano takes it's place though I'm not sure if it is real or not. Despite heavy criticism it is definitely listenable to.
The album's name sake "Felt Mountain" is an excellent representation...

Advantages: Easy listening, fulfilling, comforting Disadvantages: Repetitive, predictable, too many ballads
...This is the latest album from Lonestar at the current time, and being a life-long Lonestar fan I have to say I was really dissappointed in this album. After two or three listens it went back onto the cd rack for a few months until i recently decided to give it another chance, afterall Lonestar have never dissappointed in the past so it deserved another go. I have to say, it proved me wrong, i guess it is one of those cds you just have to listen to a few times! The album start off with a great song, being the released single "Mountains" but until the middle of the album I felt it was "ok but good". The latter half of the album is much better. It is a very emotional album behind the lyrics - possibly too many ballad and slow-songs for my liking of Lonestar but all in all a good listen......given a few chances.
