The All American rejects are one of my favourite bands right now. I listen to there album " move along" daily and I never get bored of it so I will tell you about the band and what is on this amazing album.
-The band- The All American rejects formed in Oklahoma, the album was released in 2005. The band was formed from three different bands that formed 1 as they drifted apart. The band members are as follows. Tyson Ritter - Vocals and bass Nick Wheeler- Lead Guitar, Keyboard and backing vocals Mick Kennerty- Rhythm guitar, backing vocals Chris Gaylor-Drums and percussion, backing vocals.
-The album- As I said earlier, the album was released in 2005 and is still a hit. The track "move along" was 42 in the UK charts and " dirty little secret" was 18th in the UK charts, so they have done quite well for a rock band in a manly pop mainstream country. Any way, more about the songs on the album there are 12 songs with 2 UK bonus
tracks added on. The songs are as follows
Track 1: Dirty little secret. NO# 18 in UK charts. Starts of with a catchy guitar riff and continues with great lyrics and rhythm guitar throughout. Not a fast song or a very rock like either but is really catchy and I can tell why it has done so well. It ends with the same guitar riff up an octave (higher up) with some added bits on the end.
Track 2: Stab my back It starts of with some guitar and drums with a bass every few beats. Good lyrics. I always sing along to this song. Includes some keyboard in it as well.
Track 3: Move along 42 in the UK charts. Starts of with a really good drum solo then the rhythm guitar comes in followed by the lyrics. More of a rock song than the previous as it has lots of drums and guitar. Great lyrics as well. My favourite song I think.
Track 4: It Ends Tonight 66 in UK charts. Should have got a better chart position , it did in the states , as low as 7! Another great song that starts of with a piano, giving it a sad feeling to it as when the lyrics come in it keeps the mellow feel. Even when the guitar comes in it is played in minor . When the drums and rhythm guitar come in it is still mellow but it starts to get better and eventually it isn't as sad as before
Track 5: Change your mind. A very happy start to the song, and over all a happy tone. Again great rhythm guitar and vocals. Not much else to say about this song.
Track 6: Night Drive Starts with clapping to a rhythm them the guitar comes in quite heavy and goes to the same rhythm as the clapping. Changes the beat easily and fast but brings it back with the drums and guitar on the chorus.
Track 7: 11:11P.M Starts of with a guitar chord followed by plucking. Rhythm comes in and vocals and then the lead guitar does some fancy bending effects. Over all great song. Great chorus.
Track 8: Dance inside Starts of with acoustic guitar strumming and a riff. Slow song and quiet. Keyboard or piano present again. The lack of guitar is made up by the fancy guitar in the chorus. I love this song too. Hell I love all the songs!!!!!
Track 9:top of the world Starts with Spanish style classical guitar strumming then quickly changes to a rock song with a good rhythm and guitar. The Spanish guitar strumming is present again before the chorus but not as loud and it's accompanied this time. Has a guitar solo near the end.
Track 10: Straight jacket feeling. Starts of with a guitar played in minor and then drums come in slowly backing the sad feeling. Vocals are sad too and then the chorus comes in and it sounds like there is a violin in the background but maybe it's a keyboard (with effects). Any way this has to be my favourite song, or have I already said that!!!
Track 11: I'm waiting. Starts of more heavy and them the lyrics come in with the lead guitar almost mimicking them. The chorus is good, it's like tame punk (if that makes sense)
Track 12: Can't take it Starts with a violin (or its that keyboard again!) But whatever it is it continues and the lyrics are sad again, hence the name. No its definitely a violin! Any way this is a good sad song, not fast. No guitar at all!!!
Track 13: Night drive(acoustic) * As its acoustic the drums are like bongos to make it sound better. I don't like at as much as the normal version as it is slower but it is still as good.
Track 14: Eyelash Wishes* The last song and its one of the best!. The guitar starts off with no tone on it so it is muffled but them it goes into a full on class rock song with vocals on there own and then rocking guitar.
The songs with * are the 2 bonus UK tracks.
-Conclusion- Ok I said my favourite song more than once but that's because they are all so good!!! I would recommend this song to anyone even if you don't like rock because they have been classified as power pop before!! Never in my mind. Great album . BUY IT
