I was given this album as a gift. I hadn't listened to any music by the All American Rejects before so i added it to my music collection but didn't sit down and listen to it properly... what a mistake!!
Many people are quick to assume them to be yet another whiney american teen band but they're so wrong. My boyfriend is a classic case, he complained when i added the All-American Rejects to his music collection but soon, he changed his mind and told me which songs he really likes, 'Can't Take It' being one of them.
The vocals are unique, unlike any other band, and their 'style' distinct and yet every track on the album is individual and memorable. There are upbeat songs, sadder, slower tracks and some to just give you hope and lift you when (and i've found myself feeling this way) you just need that boost after a setback; i write this primarilywith the lyrics 'And even when your hope is gone, move along, move along like i know you do...' in mind, from 'Move Along'. There really is a song for every occassion!
I've found myself discovering each song as i really listen to the lyrics, rather than just having playing as background music. I can honestly say there are no bad or weak songs on this album. There are some i prefer over others but none that i would skip.
Album Breakdown: 1. Dirty Little Secret - The perfect opening song with an introduction to get your attention then high tempo to keep it. 2. Stab My Back - Another upbeat high tempo song, a great song to have playing while driving 3. Move Along - The most well-known song on this album, that is inspirational and also has an awesome music video accompanying it 4. It Ends Tonight - A slower, sad song that's great to sing along to 5. Change Your Mind - A catchy tune that'll have you singing along in no time 6. Night Drive - Another fantastic upbeat, driving anthem 7. 11:11 PM - Quite a typical middle-of-the-album song, but that's in no way a bad thing 8. Dance Inside - A soft track compared to the previous two which compliments nicely 9. Top Of The World - Great middle-of-album track that would be good to listen to while, say, jogging... motivating 10. Straightjacket Feeling - A slow, sad song about feeling trapped. One of my favourites at the moment, beautiful song. 11. I'm Waiting - High tempo that breaks up the 2 slower tracks brilliantly 12. Can't Take It - A sad one, but i absolutely love this song 13. Eyelash Wishes [Bonus Track] - Great track to end the album on, always gets me singing along!
In summary, If this genre is usually the sort of music you like, i seriously doubt that you'll dislike this album. It's fantastic and has me constantly amazed that there are no weak songs on it.
