Advantages: Excellent physcological study of character. Disadvantages: Grim, brutal, shocking scenes of a sexual nature.
The Piano Teacher
The Piano Teacher is a subtitled film of the Phycological Drama genre. Released in 2001 it is also known by it's French name La pianiste. Directed by Michael Haneke, it is based on the novel by Die Klavierspielerin which won a Nobel Prize for Literature in 2004.
Graphic in it's content this film delves into the darker side of sex, including fetishism, bondage, and sado/masochism. It also touches
on the delicate subject of genitalia self harm. This is not a light film, and is not recommended for family viewing. ~

Advantages: Has a bit of character Disadvantages: Was thrust into the limelight too early
What a stunning drive in the 2001 Malaysian Grand Prix! Apart from the incident with Eddie Irvine at the start, Jos drove like a man on a mission. This performance was reminisent of the 2000 Canadian GP, run in similar changeable conditions, where Jos was outbraking rivals all over the place. Herein lies the problem; two good performances a year can't justify a seat forever. Having been thrust into F1 ...

Advantages: Excellent performances in a perfect setting Disadvantages: Very minor quibbles
performance practice...) he relishes the big tone of his Strad and isn'f afraid to dig in, use plenty of vibrato and even the occasional romantic portamenti (sliding from one note to another) for full effect. Yet, paradoxically - it is pure Mozart. The phrasing is spot on and he really understands the lyrical and rhythmic contrasts which make up Mozart;s style. His articulation means there is never any loss of clarity, even in the fastest passages and he's happy to merely accompany when his sister has the more important musical voice. It helps a lot that Orli Shaham is playing a Boesendorfer grand piano, which has a much mellower and more subtle sound than a percussive ahd metallic Steinway, making a perfect combination with her brother's Strad. She shares the same care in Mozartian phrasing and articulation. Fine musicians the pair of them ...
