Melodious Mozart, perfectly played

Advantages: Excellent performances in a perfect setting
Disadvantages: Very minor quibbles

. There is a little biographical information about both artists in the DVD booklet, but not much - something which I'll be coming back to later... But here is some more info: http://www.harrisonparrott.com/artists/GilShaham.asp http://www.orlishaha m.com/ DVD: This DVD was filmed as part of the celebration year in Austria during 2006 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth. One of the most unique things about it is that rather than choose a concert hall for the performance, the artists are seen playing in a room in one of Vienna's many beautiful palaces - the Palais Daun-Kinsky - which adds a tremendous amount of grandeur and atmosphere to the whole viewer experience and sets the music perfectly into the context of when it was composed. Simply Serenaded

Advantages: Gets baby to sleep
Disadvantages: See the op.

On having our baby my hubby and me went into town to look for a baby night light preferably one that played nice calming tunes. After looking in several shops we decided to go into Argos and look through their catalogue. Seeing several different ones we were comparing prices and to how many tunes there was on each one, there was one that just played one tune and needed to be set on a set of draws or some thing, another one with just images of winnie the pooh, and one that was an aquarium that played four gentle nature sounds and two lullaby?s. So as you can see there are quite a few different ones available. The one that caught our eye the most was the ?Playskool Sleepytime Serenade? It was priced somewhere in between the others at £19.99 and seemed like the best buy of the lot as it played a massive NINE tunes! The only ...

Modern Minimalist Mozart

Advantages: Origami-like sets, costumes, bold basic colors; Mozart's music, all sung beautifully.
Disadvantages: Un-PC elements may cause unease in modern audiences.

Opera-haters may just succumb to the charms of this delightful stage version of 'The Magic Flute', Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's popular opera. Created in that highly disciplined world of specialized vocal and instrumental music and theatre, it remains among the lightest in the genre. The story amounts to little more than a children's tale with the usual elements of heroism, love, revenge, forgiveness, etc. Ah, but the most aurally pleasing music of Mozart elevates it to a higher plane. From Arthaus Musik DVD comes this modern, minimalist and playful production of Mozart's final operatic work, 'The Magic Flute / Die Zauberflöte', perfomed live on 26 August 1992 at the Ludwigsburger Schloßfestspiele. Basic Plot Premise. Our hero, Prince Tamino, is rescued from a giant serpent by the Three Ladies of the Queen of the Night. The Queen ...
