Advantages: lyrics to die for Disadvantages: not enough tracks

Actually I only bought it unheard because the dog on the cover is identical to mine! But when you play this CD the music and lyrics hit you like a sledgehammer and yiu just want to keep playing ... ...Dury's lyrics are just so clever, clever, clever. The first track, 'Jack s**t George is surely autobiographical and relates the thoughts of someone who was failed by the education system, with lines like 'When have you ever been top of the class- not once. What will you be when you're out on your a***- a dunce.'

Actually I only bought it unheard because the dog on the cover is identical to mine! But when you play this CD the music and lyrics hit you like a sledgehammer and yiu just want to keep playing it to soak up more poetry.
Ian Dury's lyrics are just so clever, clever, clever. What will you be when you're out on your a***- a dunce.'
My favourite lyric of the whole album is from track 7, 'Cacka Boom' According to the great philosopher Dury, 'No one said you must be good as gold. it's what you haven't done that matters when you're old' That line shoul be in everyones birthday card.
But it's not just the lyrics. The Blockheads are and always have been a quality set-up. Check out Davey Payne's solo at the end of 'Itinerant Child' It's enough to make you go out and spend a fortune on a saxaphone! I was that man.
If you can only afford one Ian Dury album, get this one. If not get the lot, but this is the best.
