Advantages: Great special effects Disadvantages: Story line was weak
In geography we have been learning about climatic hazards and my teacher suggested that if we hadn't already seen this film that we watch it as a visual aid to help us for the exam. Being the conscientious student that I am, I asked my dad if he would hire it from Screen Select (as that's where we get most of our DVDs). Twister arrived on Tuesday morning so we settled down to watch it that evening.
~ A little bit about tornadoes ~
Most tornado activity is found in the USA. The air movements here are unique as three air masses meet causing lots of tornadoes to occur. The area is known as Tornado Alley. studying it really carefully and wondering what on earth it is! This is really good for her as it encourages her to explore the different textures.
As well as the excitement of the different textures and the crazy colours Mr Cow (as he is known in our house!) is very exciting because he has a bell inside his big chubby tummy! He jingles away every time he moves which is great because it helps to catch my daughter's attention and helps her to focus and concentrate plus she loves trying to move the cow around to make him jingle herself! I guess the downside of this is if she's asleep and I'm trying to move Mr Cow away he does tend to disturb her!
He is a lovely toy, a really great present. I really recommend him because he feels so soft and he's so friendly looking he is a good little cosy companion for my baby, he's soon become one of her ...

Checkers, or as it is known in the UK, Draughts is a strategy game that is very similiar to chess and that has amazingly been around for a very, very long time. Checkers is somewhat like an art really. In order to be really good at it, one must know the 'tricks of the trade', which can only be acquired by playing the game a lot, and by reading checkers literature too. It is once these tricks are found out, that checkers really becomes a beautiful and amusing game.
A small history lesson
It seems that Checkers could have been played as far back 1600 BC by the Pharoahs in Egypt. There are also references to the game in the Dialogues of Plato and in Homers 'The Odyssey'. However, modern draughts seems to have started in Spain with the publications of Anton Torquemada, as 'recently' as 1547.
