...was signed over to Capital Records and recorded "Harper Valley PTA" (A cover version of an unknown artist called Jeanie C Riley) Success continued to elude her untill 1969 when "Mr Walker it's all over" Went into the country charts and climed to number five,Billie then charted several more times through 1972,but had to stop when Nodules and Polyps robbed her of her voice and forced her to have surgery. Thank goodness she went one to make a full recovery and returned to United Artist in 1975 Where she had a hit with "Blanket on the ground" then "Misty Blue" and "What iv'e got in mind" reached the top five.Several more singles reached the decades end but classics like "57 Chevrolet" and "Lonely hearts club" Were much bigger hits here in Britian. ...ballad, I also love this song...it reminds me of another song but I can't think what it is! It has a strong chorus and again it has nice lyrics about how you can make a girl feel special, 'Do you know How to Touch a Girl? If you want me so much, first I have to know: Are you thoughtful and kind? Do you care what's on my mind? Or am I just for show?' Note To God - This is another ballad, it's probably not as strong as the previous two songs though. I like the meaning of the song, if you could write a note to god, what would you say? 'If I wrote a note to God, I would speak whats in my soul, I’d ask for all the hate to be swept away, for love to overflow, If I wrote a note to God I’d pour my heart out on each page', JoJo's voice really shines on this song and you can tell that she is singing with emotion throughout the whole song... Advantages: Totally mellow - not so much laid back as horizontal - costs peanuts to buy.
Disadvantages: Badly packaged very little information given.

...seem to be a more "finished" than the rest but I'm not necessarily convinced that's because the others are a rush job. The remainder are no less polished, the performances, arrangements and instrumentation are equally melodious, there just aren't as many layers, which makes them less slick but also more immediate. Any more embellishment and all that intimacy would either be lost or begin to feel manufactured. The resulting atmosphere is definitely casual but far too polished to be a session - it's more like an un-plugged. Except that there is a liberal dash of brass and strings. Think Nelson Picket's "Knock on Wood", the Walker Brothers tracks like the Lennon McCartney "World Without Love" or Simon and Garfunkle - pretty much anything from "Bridge Over Troubled Water" rather than the "Sound of Silence" era though - it even reminds me...
