and present via Hugh Grant's Alex Fletcher, a has-beenRock of the '80sicon given another shot at the charts by young pop diva Cora Corman (newcomer Haley Bennett). Grant gives some surprisingly credible--if often gently tongue-in-cheek--performances in his musical debut; indeed, he carries better than half the soundtrack with his earnest vocal charms. The production gets key help from Fountain of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger, who contributes a delicious, loving send-up of Wham! courtesy of "Meaningless Kiss," the emotive piano confessional "Don't Write Me Off," and two versions of "Way Back into Love," the comeback ballad/duet that drives the story line. A playful demo version of the latter pairs Grant with co-star Drew Barrymore (playing the florist who becomes Fletcher's unlikely songwriting foil), while Grant's ultimate duet with young Bennett evokes contemporary pop conceits with a keen, affectionate flair that also graces the young singer's Britney-esque "Buddha's Delight," "Slam," and the more obviously snarky "Entering Bootytown." Rounding out the collection are a pair of complimentary tracks by Swedish pop acts: The Sounds' bouncy "Tony the Beat" and the club-slinky groove of Teddybears' "Different Sound." Highlighted by Grant's sympathetic vocals and a knowing musical sensibility that never quite lapses into mere parody, it's a pop-lover's delight from start to finish.--Jerry McCulley

After seeing the film, I just had to go and buy the soundtrack. I had it now for a few months and I still love to listen to it regularly.
The film begins with the song “POP! Goes my heart.” Which meant, I was in stitches already 5 Minutes into the film. So there is no surprise that the first song on the soundtrack is “POP! Goes my heart.” It’s so very 80 ties and each time I hear it, I see Hugh Grant with his 80 ties haircut singing it. Brilliant! It is really Hugh Grant singing on the CD, which is reason enough to purchase this CD. The song might not get a placing in the top 10 charts these days but it has a lot of comedy value and it sticks in your head.
The second song is “Buddha’s Delight” which is sung by Haley Bennett. It’s a great song for dancing, quite sexy. It really gets those hips moving. - One of my favourites on the CD.
The third song is “meaningless kiss”, which is sung by Hugh Grant. This is another song that is supposed to be from the 80 ties. Because it’s a ballad, it’s maybe not so obvious. I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece. The best thing this song has going for it, is that Hugh is singing it. – For me, he could be singing the Alphabet and it would be great ;-)
The forth song is “Entering Bootytown” which is another song sung by Haley Bennett. It’s very contemporary and upbeat. Another good song to dance to but I find it needs a few times listening to, to appreciate it.
My favourite (and probably everybodies who has got this album) is the fifth song which is the demo version of “Way back into love”. It’s THE song of the film. It carries you through the whole film and I want to see someone who didn’t get out of the cinema singing this song in their head. It’s a very nice ballad sung by Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Maybe not two of the best voices you’ll ever hear, but so so sweet, It’s got definitely the Ahhhh factor.
The sixth song is “Tony the beat” and is sung by The Sounds. It’s definitely not one of my favourites and could happily be left of the album.
The seventh song is “dance with me tonight” and is sung by Hugh Grant. It’s another ballad with maybe not the best voice, but very nice harmonies.
The eighth song is “Slam” sung by Haley Bennett. It’s another up tempo dance number. I find that it repeats itself a bit too much, but you can still move the booty to it. It’s got a nice rhythm.
Number nine on the album is “Don’t write me off” sung by Hugh Grant. It’s a ballad that is written in the film by Hugh Grant to get Drew Barrymore back. This alone gets some Ahhh points. For everyone who hasn’t seen the film, this song won’t make much sense and I can’t imagine that it will be enjoyed then, but everyone who has seen the film will get a bit of heartache again listening to this.
The tenth song is “Way back into Love” again. This time sung by Hugh Grant and Haley Bennett. This is the proper version, which is just very nice to listen to. It is a brilliant song!
The eleventh song is “Different Sound” sung by the Teddybears. I don’t really get this song and if might as well have been left of the album.
The twelfth and last song is “Love Autopsy” sung by Hugh Grant, if you can call it a song. It’s only 40 seconds long and is the beginning of a ballad that Hugh starts writing with Drew. - It’s Hugh singing again, so it can’t be bad. ;-)
A few facts about the album: It’s been published by Atlantic Records and the producer is Marc Lawrence (who wrote and directed the film as well) Most of the songs were written by Adam Schlesinger and Andrew Wyatt.
I think except one or two songs, this is a brilliant album, but if someone hasn’t seen the film, it probably won’t be enjoyed as much. I paid £8.99 for it and would definitely recommend it.
Music and Lyrcis; Not only a quality film but an even better soundtrack. Including songs created for the film performed by both Hugh Grant (who actually has a great singing voice!) and also Drew Barrymore who adds to the fun of the album. This album was created in order to demonstrate the songs from the hit film. The songs are upbeat, happy and just damn good fun. A classic example would be the song 'Pop! Goes my heart' if you've seen the film then ... ...to shake that pop hip. Just like most of other of Grant's films this is indeed a romantic comedy however more so comedy. This is emphasised in some of the lyrics expressed. Such as from 'Don't write me off just yet', 'Now I need you; despite the fact that you've killed all my plants.' The songs on this album are fun and also meaningful with great messages laid into the lyrics. With a great deal of romantic references shown in both 'Love Autopsy and ...

POP goes my heart! Review ofMusic And Lyrics - Various Artistsby
brodiegirl
The movie music and lyrics is a new motion picture starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymoore. It is relativley new at the cinema but masses of people have already been to see it. Hugh Grant plays a washed keyboard/ Singer in a cheesy 80's pop band. Alex (Grant) is given a couple of days to write a song for teen sensation Cora. As he is doing so he is informed that his plant keeper is away so he has a different one for a few days. (Barrymoore) when ... ...keeper. So he lets her in and he and a client carry on with their writing but as they go on Alex realises Sophie is a much better writer as she sings the rest of the song without knowing it. The movie begins with the song Pop goes my heart which is my personal fave in the movie because it is so entertaining to watch and to listen to. then we meet the biggest teenage star in America and we are met with her singing 'Entering bootytown.' This song is ...

Advantages: A couple of decent tracks Disadvantages: A distinct lack of passion displayed in the music
...in their tone here. I feel that they are singing like they mean it in these two tracks, and this is a great thing to hear as it is not something that comes across an awful lot throughout the albums duration. These two tracks are extremely intelligently crafted, with the brothers really showing their strength in song writing here. Despite a high degree of passion shown in these two tracks, it's just not enough for me as it in no way makes up for the fact that for the majority of the album the twins vocals and lyrics are devoid of truth, meaning, and passion.
Over the years, The Proclaimers have shown their love of other artistsmusic with various covers and this fact is once again true here. On 'Life With You', the band have chosen to do a cover of the Wreckless Eric track 'Whole Wide World' and have covered it extremely well. This one...

The Lyrics
Now that you have gotten a little preview of what the lyrics will be like on the album Stankonia. Let me tell you a little bit more about Outkast’s lyrics and what some of them mean. This is only based on what I know, and facts, not my decipher. Most of the songs Outkast writes are trying to say a message. They also might be telling a very meaningful story, which happens in life everyday. Or they incorporate their past experience in life into certain songs.
This is Outkast at their best
Every album Outkast releases gets better. This was one album that fits perfectly in that category. The album...
