Music from the hit tv show The O.C, being one of my favourite programmes, i knew before i bought it that i woul like this cd. But actually when i first bought it i thought it was a bit boring all the songs were the same and they went on a bit.... But after watching the episodes that this music is on it made me like it a lot more, so much that it is now one of my favourite cds!
Each track is original as the next and has some bands on that i never would of listened to other wise.
Including up and coming bands such as Jet, Phantom planet and The Doves this is one of the best mixed cds i have found for a while. As there is a lot of different styles of music on it.
Tracks include: -
1.South - Paint the silence.
This is one of my favourites, it's played when Marissa and Ryan are kissing on the ferris wheel and has a really good backing tune. It starts with a really nice guitar intro and goes into a relaxing husky singer.
2. Jem - Just a ride.
Jem feature on the 2nd album as well (The O.C mix 2) and i think they are better on that cd. But this song has a slight country feel to it. Has a lot of the same lyrics through out. I would like to hear more by Jem as she has a really individual sound. It is played on New Years Eve when Sandy is talking to another girl, leaving Kirsten on her own.
3. Joseph Arthur - The honey and the moon.
This is a slower song but is still one of the key tracks. This has also got quite a country feel to it and some of the best lyrics on the album. This is played the first time Ryan leaves to find his mother has abondoned him.
4. Spoon - The way we get by.
This is another of my favourites quite an up beat song again with good lyrics. I think this should of been put on mix 2 as it is similar to most of those and doesn't fit as well. I haven't ever heard of 'Spoon' Before this but would like to hear more as i really like this song. This is played at the beginning of 'The Outsider' episode, when Ryan and Seth are on the way for lobster.
5. Jet - Move on.
Best known for 'Are you gonna be my girl?' Jet have made this song great by having a lot of different vocals in it. This is played at the end of 'The Secret' episode.
6. The 88 - How good can it be.
This is a really good song. I love it you can either chill or party to this song as it has all kinds of feelings put in to it. It has a really talented male singer on it and it really makes a difference having this song on the album. This is played as the entry song to 'The Heights' episode.
7. Doves - Caught By The River.
The Doves are already quite a well known band but this song is quite different to the other stuff i've heard by them. A really relaxing song and something you can really listen to! This is played when Ryan, Seth & Marissa are racing down the promenade on their way to get some food.
8. Turin Brakes - Rain City.
As you can tell by the name this is a slower song it's really peaceful and always makes me feel really relaxed when listening to it. This is played at the end of catillion and when Ryan's mum leaves California.
9. The Dandy Warhols - We used to be friends.
This is played after the thanksgiving with Anna and Summer when Seth is trying to get off school. Another of my favourites, this song is a really happy feeling song. It has really great lyrics and the vocals match really well. You may have heard this band before with their song 'Bohemian like you'.
10. Finley Quaye - Dice.
This is played on my favourite episode with Oliver's new years eve party and starts just as Ryan is running to get there. Quite a slow song, but really good. This is a love ballad that fits really well to the scene it is played in.
11.Alexi Murdoch - Orange Sky.
This is one of my least favourites, a really slow song that gets quite boring to the end of it. Would be a good song to relax to, but not really my style. This is played from when Ryan gets back to Trey after stealing the car until the end of the episode.
12. Phantom Planet - California.
The famous song! Played for the theme tune obviously another of my faves. I love how Phantom Planet can get it right every time i have heard another song on the soundtrack of 'Not another teen movie' and really would like to hear more from this band. This track is set to be released later this year.

Inside the cd it can either be folded out into a poster or can be kept in the box with the track notes and a short note from the creator of the o.c Josh Schwartz.
