"Music Is My Savior" is the eponymous debut album from the New York rapper who shortened his name down to Mims. His career was kicked off following the success of one of the biggest Hip Hop tracks of 2007, as he brought the East coast Hip Hop club scene back with his Pop Rap approach. It came out in 2007 and was followed up in 2008, although it flopped and left him as a mere one-hit-wonder.

Kicking off the album in dramtic fashion, you get the duo of Blackout & styles on the beats, and they come with an exciting one to get things going an represent where this album is going to lead things for this particular album. it sounds fresh and gives you lots of hope for what is to come in the album.

3. "This Is Why I'm Hot"
This was the killer single from the album, and a monster track for the year as it took over cubs. I woulnd't say that it deserved all the hype which it received, however you can't deny the impact whihc it had. You have him essentially jacking all the popular sub-genres to Hip Hop by going to separate American regions and describing what is popular there.

4. "Girlfriend's Fav MC"
J. Holiday joins Mims for this one as they decide to alter things and take
on very different production from Twizz & D. Baker. I thought that the he strange beats were quite distracting though as they were just so new, and force you to pay more attention to that than the raps. I think that this was a positive though as once you do listen to his flow, you get annoyed by predictable lines.

5. "Where I Belong"
You can tell that Mims rreally thought he was kicking some original, thought-provoking stuff when he wrote this one as he comes with the mos cliched rhymes concerning the oppression of people in his demographic. It is just pathetic, and he could never carry such an emotive topic effectively.

6. "Cop It"
I liked the variation of this thing as Thomas Simons comes on it with the beats, however Mims demeans all of this with the same sorts of things which we had already heard in all the others tunes here, (and we are only on the sixth recording from the record). it sounds like the male counterpart to Lil' Mama.

7. "Big Black Train"
I really don't to waste my time on this one. it is yet another wack tune from him. Originally, I was alright with it as it seemed that he was goign somewhere productive with it, but it crumbled after a few seconds as he goes off-topic, and just looses all concentration with what he was went to be focused on.

8. "They Don't Wanna Play"
Due to the fact that Bun B is such an established southern Gangsta Rapper, he doesn't have to worry about his reputation which collaborating with ringtone rappers such as Mims (he also did the same with Unk, Soulja Boy and V.I.C. too), and so when you hear him on this, he sounds just as confident as ever and is able to aid Mims as he takes it to the Dirty South for this one. Blackout changes his stle to produce this one, andhe creates authentic southern rap beats for this one. However Mims' rhymes were just as weak as ever.

9. "Like This"
You have a track which basically take the best elements of his smash single as he tries to grab the attention with Pop techniques of excessive repetitiion, in an attempt to achieve another club banger and ringtone essential. however with the rhymes overlapping on this one, it all sounds like him lacks the reativity to come up with anything original.

10. "Just Like That"
"From "Like This" to "Just Like That", he moves on from the club music to an attempt of Gangsta Rap, and as you can already guess it is poor stuff as he motivated by the hard beats to change his style, however the content of it makes it laughable. It was another weak attempt of something far out of grasp for this Hip Popper.

11. "Without You"
When paying close attention to his rhymes, his style is quite simialr to Lil'; wayne's in terms of how he uses popular culture to attempt to get a reaction out of the crowd, however it immediately becomes aparent that Mims doesn't possess the swag to pull off this in such large frequencies to the point where it becomes corny.

12. "Superman"
This one just gives me more reasons to dislike him as it uncovers reasons why his raps are so disliked by myself. You get him speaking about how those close to him call him "Superman", and ellaborates around this kind of work, but it just sounds so over-done.

13. "This Is Why Im Hot" (Remix)
This is the dancehall remix to the hit off the album. It has the rapper joined by Cham and Junior Reid, who give a Caribbean twist to the track. Instead of utitlsing popular Hip Hop samples of the time, this one takes classic Reggae and Dancehall joints in its place and do exactly what the original did, just with an original take on it all.

14. "Doctor Doctor"
The final musical track on the album seems to be just as weak as the rest of the thing as he attempts to change things up with come darker material as he speaks on the times where he has to really think over what is going on in his life. The beats are grat, but completely irrelavent to the subject which Mims presents.

15. "Don't Cry" (Outro)
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Upon hearing "this Is Why I'm Hot", it was apparent that his career would amount to very little, and having this on followed up by a single-less sub-Gold album showed that he's pretty much done with it all. Regardless of this, 2009 will have him produce yet another lbum, but if this is anything to go by, it will be a flop.
