trends, she took the earth mother vibes of Ray Of Light and transposed them to the heart of the dancefloor. The end product, Music, is a wondrous mixture of the familiar and the audaciously new--tracks like "Amazing" and "Runaway Lover" would have slotted nicely into the more uptempo sections of Ray Of Light, whereas tracks like "Impressive Instant" and the title track "Music" take Madonna closer to the sound of the dancefloor underground. William Orbit, the man responsible for producing the Ray Of Light album, has a hand in proceedings again, but the majority of tracks are produced by French whizzkid Mirwais, who brings a distinctive Gallic House feel to the proceedings, taking Madonna's voice and putting it through a vocoder until it sounds more like an instrument rather than a vocal line. Whereas Ray Of Light was her album of the joys of motherhood, Music is clearly the sound of a woman in love, for hard evidence look no further than the ballad "I Deserve It", with its opening line "This guy was meant for me", clearly dedicated to the father of her second child, Guy Ritchie. With a well-balanced mix of downtempo and uptempo numbers, all stamped with her innovative style, Music is further proof that Madonna is still way ahead of the pack. --Helen Marquis
exploration of a unique pop-culture goddess. A sumptuous collection of Madonna Louise Ciccone's style effects, from Michigan childhood to English shires of motherhood. Every aspect of Madonna is examined, including her natural assets and the wildly inventive catalogue of personae that she and her style army have conjured up over the years. Carol Clerk is the former news editor of Melody Maker. She now contributes to various music publications, particularly Uncut and Classic Rock. She has written books for Omnibus Press on The Pogues and Hawkwind.(english)

her single "Music", taken from the album of the same name, as she dons the gold jewellery and cowboy hat of the garage set and hangs out with Ali G. With controversial video director Jonas Akerland at the helm, Madonna has never looked trashier as she pouts and writhes around in the back of a stretch limo, champagne glass in hand, as her chauffeur, Mr G himself, tries to keep his eyes on the road.Renowned for his rather more explicit videos for the Prodigy ("Smack My Bitch Up") and The Cardigans ("My Favourite Game"), the only taste crimes that Akerland commits here are those of fashion. Having worked with Madonna previously on the video for "Ray of Light", here Akerland combines live action with garish animation, the video's tacky stylings complementing the song's disco sensibilities perfectly. Ali G even manages to achieve the seemingly impossible by being funny in a music video, a sure sign of the man's comedic talent. Big up the Staines Massive. --Helen Marquis

However, I am going to tell you about her MUSIC album as this is ... ...in the CD these are Music and American Pie. To the write if this is a special, silver, hologram sticker saying UK on it to show that it is the UK version. This is important as the USA version has slightly differing tracks.
As you open the case, you will see where the CD is placed and where the description of the CD is. The CD is brown and has a pink horseshoe with a clover above it. It also has in silver around the outside rim the address in silver. ...

...celebrity T-shirts and cowboy hats. Music is simply what the title says.
I really like the tackiness of the pictures on the CD cover but, must admit that Madonna looks a bit like a Liverpool scally (blonde hair, fake tan, gold jewelry and pink lipstick). I bought it for £6.99 in a Virgin Megastore sale.
1. Music 10/10 ‘Music makes the bourgeoisie and the rebel come together’. I wasn’t overly taken with this when I first heard it ... ...in the video. Fantastic weekend music to drink copious amounts of alcohol to before going to your chosen destination…. 2. Impressive Instant 8/10 ( Madonna/ Ahmadzai) ‘ Cosmic systems intertwine /Astral bodies drip like wine/ All of nature ebbs and flows.’ Throbbing base line accompanies this story of lust at first sight. A cracking tune with Madonna making all sorts of strange vocals and harmonies 3. Runaway Lover 8/10 (Madonna/Orbit) ...

Advantages: An excellent line-up of dance/country/pop tracks Disadvantages: None
...in question was of course Music and would again offer the sound of the future, continuing in a vaguely similar formula to Ray Of Light (1998). Madonna worked with a multiple number of producers on this project which included William Orbit (who also co-produced Ray Of Light), Mirwais Ahmadzai, Guy Sioworth and Mark "Spike" Stent. Music, offered a rather diverse range of tracks that were both adventurous and compelling which has always been the genius ... ...The title track, Music is an absolute monster dance-floor filler. Containing a swirling electronic pop-funk vibe, Madonnas playful delivery gave startling ignition to this slick offering that caught onto the public like a magnet. Unsurprisingly and very deservedly, Music became a cross-Atlantic chart-topper. Impressive Instant is another startling and mesmerising tune with its strikingly synthesised effects and driving grooves. Would have made a ...

Advantages: Brilliant album - cutting edge of pop music Disadvantages: That Damned "American Pie" Cover
...This was a collaboration with music producer William Orbit, his style and her voice proved to be a great hit and the album was well received by the critics. Since then a number of artists have followed in her footsteps and employed the services of Orbit (most notably the All Saints on their “Saints And Sinners” album).
To keep ahead of the pop rat race Madonna has again taken her music to a different level by using a variety of different producers. ... ...throughout, it sounds like hip-hop music meets disco, 21st century style. The video for this song was also quite amusing with Madonna being driven around by her chauffeur (Ali G) before becoming a cartoon superhero!?! Anyway, back to the review – great track, more of the same please!
Guess what? My wish came true! Yep , “Impressive Instant”, like “Music”, is another Mirwais production except in fast forward mode! This is another dance style track, ...

Advantages: three good songs Disadvantages: most songs rubbish
Don't get me wrong. I'm a HUGE fan of Madonna's. She was all I listened to as a child. I bought, listened to and loved every other album she made and I though this would be no exception. Boy was I wrong...
It starts off great with the fantastic 'Music'. Fantastic song. After that it goes downhill so fast that I wasn't sure if it would ever stop.
All other tracks on this album, with the exception of 'American Pie' and 'Don't tell me' are tuneless, ... ...on. What does she expect? She used to be the most fantastic singer in existance. But now she seems to have given up. The songs on this album are a huge letdown after the fantastic tracks from earlier on in her career. Who can forget 'Like a Virgin' and 'Holiday', or the more recent 'Frozen' and 'Beautiful Stranger'? And I have to mention this even though harly anyone remembers it but what about 'Human Nature'? That was truly one of her best songs.
