It seems to me, that often the soundtrack of a film is better than the film itself. As you can see from my opening-sentence, I loved the music of "My Best Friend's Wedding". The songs fit of course to the story and are therefore only happy-romantic lovesongs. I especially worship "I say A Little Prayer", sung by Diana King and for the film also sung by a rough, wonderful soul voice, whose name doesn't appear. The CD also includes the Film-Suite and famous titles like "What The World Needs Now..." (Jackie Deshannon). So if there's a collection of sweet and up-cheering music missing in your CD-shelf, it's quite nice, not very demanding, but good for a romantic candle-light dinner, or for dancing ! ;) But I think there are too few titles on the CD, only 13 (whole play-time about 40 min). All togehter it's a soundtack worth enjoying it.

Album Notes: Though it contains the music from the box-office record-breaking romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, there's another agenda at work on this album. It doubles as a tribute to '60s popmeisters Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and is populated by a coterie of contemporary artists offering up their own interpretations of classic Bacharach/David songs, many of which were made famous by Dionne Warwick. Mary Chapin Carpenter takes a modern glance at romantic disillusion on her version of "I'll Never Fall In Love Again." Elsewhere, neo-folk diva Ani DiFranco reinvents "Wishin' And Hopin." Tony Bennett provides a brief break in format with an assured rendition of the evergreen "Just The Way You Look Tonight."
