Kelly Clarkson is a young lady who won the first series of Pop Idol USA way back in 2003, since then she has released three albums, the third of which is entitled "My December".
To be honest I was a huge fan of her as she performed on Pop Idol and continued to be with the release of her first album but she has not been able to keep up the good work, her second album could not live up to the first and this one is a backwards step yet again.
All that said this is still not a bad album it is just nowhere near as good as her earlier work and whereas with the first album I could have listened to every track over and over again, with this one there are a few I will not listen to at all and the others have a short shelf life with me.
The first song on the album (Never Again) is a fairly good tune and it is a sing a long track that I quite like and it shows of Kelly`s amazing voice really well, this is followed by another good track (One Minute) which again is a very catchy sing a long tune and sounds great when sung by Kelly.
The third track on the album is called Hole and she really should have buried it in one, great guitar work on this track but weak lyrics and the song does nothing for Kelly`s voice or singing style, in my opinion it is one of the weakest Kelly Clarkson tracks so far.
The only other really weak track on the album is "haunted", this track is very weak both lyrically and musically, it is instantly forgettable and it offers little to Kelly`s style at all. It is the sort of track that if it had been the first I had heard by her I would probably not have bothered to listen to anymore.
The rest of the tracks on the album are all listenable and there are one or two slightly better than the others, those being "How I Feel" and "Yeah", I really enjoy these two tracks and although they are different styles, they both allow Kelly to stretch her amazing vocals and show what she is all about.
Overall I would say this is another typical pop album, not a great one but a good one. There are other artists out there who would probably be very happy with an album like this but as we know Kelly can do much better it is a bit of a letdown for me.
Instead of ripping the whole album to my IPod like I have with her previous albums I have just selected certain tracks off of this one and I would imagine that others have gone down a similar path where this album is concerned.
