If there is one word that describes Creeds debut album ‘My Own Prison’ it would have to be something like……one too complicated for my simpleton vocabulary!!

Advantages: Complicated lyrics, just very cool!! Disadvantages: Complicated lyrics (thats good and bad)

New FAVOURITES huh?? Well, maybe not quite yet, but with the gutsy and soulful lead vocals of Scott Stapp, backed by the solid bass playing of Brian Marshall, ... ...track still isn’t one of my favourites (although its still very good). As with all tracks, the lyrics aren't about lost love in relationships but about problems around the world. The band introduces a fun way for us to open our eyes to problems other than love, and how it affects us. To be honest though, I still don’t get what this one’s really on about. Something to do with living and life, but that topic flows through the whole ...

Creed-u-like Review ofMy Own Prison - Creedby
Jonzeh
Advantages: Tight, well produced rock Disadvantages: Derivative
...rock, metal all feature on my hi-fi. In fact I’ve got the last movement of Saint-Saens’ Organ Symphony playing right now. It’s just a case of wanting to listen to as much *good* music as possible. Having heard some Creed you may ask why I would bother with such a band. Aren’t they just a wholly derivative bunch of record company darlings, playing with the still twitching corpse of Metallica whilst buying drinks for Eddie Vedder ... ...after all….I haven’t made up my mind on much yet..;]
The general sentiment of this album is one aspect which I can relate to, being an “angry young man” (well, not really, but I should be…) the ideas of guilt, original sin, anger and despair are right up there with chasing girls and beer. BUT, I don’t want to ward off anyone who isn’t in the male 16-21 bracket. Forgetting about the emotional outlook of the ...

My Own Prison Review ofMy Own Prison - Creedby
The_Call_of_Ktulu
Advantages: Excellent, a musical experience Disadvantages: You have to buy it?!?
Well, this is my first op...
This is an album i literally NEEDED in my collection. After purchasing Creed - Weathered, i realised that they were more than 'just a band'. They perform a supernatural combination of musical genres, ppotentially supplying enjoyment to almost all varieties of music listeners. Ok, so the last sentance was a bit strong but Creed really do encorporate a mixture of heavy distortion for pre-night out situations, and the light ... ...depressions gathered throughout the day. It progresses towards heavier, but still controlled guitar work. An excellent tune in this sublime album. My own prison is in itself a special song, which fits most moods. I would recommend this album to most people. It is an exciting, inspirational piece of art. ...

...1999 saw the release of 'MyOwnPrison', the debut album from US rockers Creed. For a band that blatantly ripped-off the likes of Pearl Jam on an almost track-by-track basis, their success was startling.
Forgoing their debut, the bands two follow up releases, 'Human Clay' and 'Weathered' started to show cracks in the foundations, and whether it was down to the staggering 20 million sales, or the more likely fact that vocalist Scott Stapp happens to be a total tosser, Creed soon disbanded and went their separate ways.
Guitarist Mark Tremonti was always the star of the piece; a truly fantastic talent, his recent emergence as part of new outfit Alter Bridge (whom also feature former Creed drummer Scott Phillips and bass player Brian Marshall) serves notice that parting ways may well have been for the better as far as he's concerned...

Advantages: Amazing voice, unbelievable musical genius Disadvantages: There last album :(
...Creed was formed in 1995 in Tallahassee, FL, by vocalist Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti. After about 9 years together, Creed split up after releasing three albums "myownprison", "human clay" and "weathered" selling over 30 million albums worldwide in that time.
Better known over in the US, they were so successful leading to them being one of Americas biggest rock bands in over ten years before splitting last year.
The Human Clay album was one of my personal favourites with such hits as "With Arms Wide Open", and "Higher", but the Weathered album was just as successful and gave us "My sacrifice", one of my all time favourite songs.
The lead singer Scott Stapp's voice is genius, as so is the rest of the bands musical skills. Tremonti's guitar skills were sublime.
After splitting Scott Stapp has now gone solo...
