Now for some reason I am really getting into R & B just lately. IN one of my recent reviews I referred to a R & B album being possibly the first and last that I may ever buy, well that has changed and overnight I seem to have become quite fond of this kind of music, someone has obviously influenced me, but I can't think who.
Jay Sean, a couple of weeks ago, if someone mentioned his name to me I wouldn't have had a clue who he was, possibly an actor, singer maybe, I would have been oblivious to who he was, however his album has now found it prized place in my ever increasing collection of R & B music.
Jay Sean, is a British Indian singer, originally born as Kamaljit Singh Jhooti. Although I had never heard of him before he has actually released two albums in which My Own Way is the second album. Majority of the tracks that have been released haven't gone too far up the charts however he has had a couple that have been in the top twenty and to be honest after listening to his album, I feel that they could have done a lot more with the backing from the radio stations as I must admit I can't say that I have heard them a great deal on the radio, if at all, I've just picked up on his name from somewhere and decided to purchase the album after watching a couple of the track son youtube.
My Own Way was released in May 2008 and from the album three singles have been released Ride It, Maybe and Stay. Maybe the song that influenced me to purchase the album reached number 19 in the UK charts.

On a similar scale as Usher, not quite a big though, I think he could actually go quite far. The album personally I think is flawless, even with some of Ushers tracks on his album I tend to skip them. His vocals are great, a pleasure to listen to and this guy can sing in my opinion. Majority of the tracks are on a ballad kind of basis, but it nice to listen to a guy sing these kind of tracks rather than a woman.
A lot of various funky beats make each track unique and more easy to listen to because you don't feel that you are listening to the same track which is just a little bit different than the one before. Its a pleasure to listen to and makes a bit of change listening to something like this than the usual kind of music that i listen to.
My favourite track has got to be Maybe, he sings of his love for a woman that he is going out with, and is hoping that Maybe she feels the same about him. Its the song that made me buy the album so has got to be my favourite, however all the songs are just equally as good.
With a lot more promotion thorugh the radio stations to raise the profile of this guy, I can imagine, not only myself will be writing good reviews of his album on ciao.
Its well worth a listen if you like this kind of music.
