Avant is definatly wayyyyy underrated, and not as known as he should be and deserve to be, his words are like liquid, so smooth and depending on the song quite sensual aswel, of course i would recommend any of his albums, but this one is definately my favourate. ... Advantages: His Voice Disadvantages: Some songs arnt the best, but most of them are fab!
...but this one is definately my favourate. The songs, Happy, Seperated and I wanna know, are my fave songs, His songs will always feel like they relate to a part of you, and you can actually feel the emotion in his words and music.... I would definatly recommened this album, as well as all his other albums to anyone who loves RnB, and also likes a bit of soul music too, as lot of his songs are very soulful! This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Personnel includes: Avant (vocals); Steve Huff (various instruments, bass, programming); Charles "Al" Willis (guitar); Ketara Wyatt (background vocals). Engineers include: Rob, Steve "Stone" Huff, Larry Strum. Recorded at Streeterville, Batcave, Battery Studio and Chicago Recording Company, Chicago, Illinois. The first artist signed to Magic Johnson's label deal with MCA Records, MY THOUGHTS is also Avant's debut album. "Separated" is an energetic, passionate song about a love gone wrong which is pretty much the album's theme, rooted in the ups and downs of love, and Avant uses his dynamic voice to clearly rise above these perfectly positioned tracks. Produced by Steve "Stone" Huff, the album is rare in today's R&B scene, in that Huff is the sole producer. This means there's a refreshing consistency to all the tracks. Besides lacing the songs with his silky vocal delivery, Avant also co-writes ten of the cuts here. Some of the highlights of MY THOUGHTS are "Reaction," "Let's Make a Deal," and "Serious." Overall, a very well-rounded and polished sounding debut.
