I woke up in a strange place is Jeff at his lyrical best, a song that like so many on the album, that should have been released as a single. 10/10
Mojo Pin is a song I was never a big fan of though Jeff's wailing desperation of sadness in his voice carries the song high than any other version I've heard, just as he allows his voice to hang and roll with the backing melody. 7/10
Lilac wine is a song that Nina Simone did many years before Jeff and to Nina's credit her version is slightly better than this version of Jeff's. Although not a disappointment, it's not my fave song on the CD. 7/10
What will you say, Now this is more like it, a heavy strong song in what seems like a personal song about his father (though it was in fact written by Jeff's friend Chris Dowd). You can feel the searing anger in Jeff's voice at parts, whilst in other be struck in awe at his versatile voice.10/10
Last goodbye, This is an angrier sounding version of his Grace classic, the anger in the music (although not his voice as such) lets the song seem to over-come it's own emotional stale mate as a longing fellow saying goodbye to his former love. 9/10
Eternal life, This is actually more like the later revised "Road version" (from grace's 10th anniversary box set). Jeff's voice is sounding so angry, you can almost touch the angst coming off every note he sings. His angst aimed at the music industry for their crusiade against on stage Jamming (as was seen in early versions of "Kanga-roo")/ 10/10
Grace, A more weeping version than the original as Jeff sings about longing for death. The notes of the guitar and Jeff's voice fit in almost a sychnosised fashion to allow us to hear such a wonderful song, though Jeff at times sounds like he's wanting to let his words cry. 9/10
Moodswing whiskey, A nice keeping up tempo sonic blast with a variation of soft and hard notes. Jeff's voice again sounding angry but yet with the grit it also sounds soft and pure. 8/10
The man that got away, the worst song on the album, seems out of place and too ballady compared to the rest. Although I'm sure many would argue it sets up the finale, and gives the album a time to take a breath, personally I feel like Jeff was just looking for filler. 5/10
Kanga-roo, Although not Jeff's longest version of this song, it's still a fair marathon at just shy of 10 and a half mins. The musical side of the song is supreme and sublimley put together with a soft but yet catchy set of lyrics. This song does what the previous song failed at, and allowed a breather to the break neck pace of the rest of the album. 9/10
Hallelujah/I Know It's Over (medley), Two classics in one, what more must we ask for? A combination of Jeff's most loved song (originally by Leonard Cohen) and a Smith's classic. This was the ideal song to finish the album, as Jeff's voice says much more than the words i type can possibly attempt to. 10/10

...6 concerts in Jeff Buckley's Mystery White Boy tour make up this live album. My ratings are as follows: [*] - Nothing really catches the attention. [**] - Something grabs my attention. [***] - Gets me air-drumming, air-guitaring and singing along to the track. 1. Dream Brother Slow to start, and though in the buildup there is some laidback vocal improvisation, Jeff is having to squeeze hard for some of those falsetto notes. [**] 2. I Woke Up In A ... ...heavy, and the riffs dirty. [***] 3. Mojo Pin Solid but for the final bridge where Jeff slips into sheepish singing - however he does come on strongly for the finale. [**] 4. Lilac Wine As if Buckley has had too much to drink here, what with the guitar losing its way and his vocals being reduced to a croak at the end, though the improvisation in the singing is as strong as it is soulful. JeffBuckley died a few years ago, in May 1997. The only full album released before his death was Grace, and that was a supreme introduction to him. His voice was magical, very special; he could reach all notes and when he sang, he carried a personality to be proud of. He was a dare-devil, a practical joker, and unfortunately this led to his death when he drowned in a tragic accident in Memphis. Since then his mother, Mary Guibert, and the members of his band, Michael Tighe, Matt Johnson and Mick Grondhahl, have released works by Jeff, so that he may live on after his death. The album he was working on at the time of his death was My Sweetheart The Drunk, and this was released as a 'Sketches for' album, containing mostly Jeff on his own, practising and trying out new methods. Advantages: Live Disadvantages: It needs more tracks!
JeffBuckley has one of the most amazing voices you will ever hear and although Grace might be an excellent album MysteryWhiteBoy is a far better showcase for his talents. His performances live were breathtaking in their range and scope. The songs are given a new lease of life as he stretches and elongates them. The stand out tracks are Grace, Last Goodbye and a lengthy version of Dream Brother. The whole album is superb with a great sound and it makes you wonder just what he would have been doing now. Without a doubt he is a superb live performer and this album demostrates unequivocally there will be no one like him despite the best attempts of imitation vocalists (Muse, even Thom Yorke!) Buy it now and enjoy for years to come ...

especially when you can never see this guy live for yourself. However mysterywhiteboy has enough to like though I think the Live at L'yompia is a slightly better option in terms of comparisons between the two cds.
Overall, there is now so much material from jeffBuckley out there that without knowing much about it you could easily end up with the music that was only released as a bonus for the fans but not his best work. Grace is the only way to start to look at his music. This package is ideal though the add on live CD is a welcomed bonus. For those who like this they should 'sketches for my sweetheart the drunk', decent recordings of what would have been the follow up to Grace. This album whenever I have recommended it to others it has gone down well so I would do nothing different on here. ...
