...This score by Vangelis is far superior to his 1981 oscar winning score for Chariots of Fire because it compliments the exquisite looking images and futuristically grungy atmosphere that pervade Ridley Scotts seminal film. In fact I've never seen a film where the music fits so perfectly all the way through. From the gorgeously mystical opening synth chords accompanying those initial stunning images of 21st century LA, to the pounding, unforgettable end title. And I think the erotic and dreamy love theme played by a smoother than a baby's bum saxophone is totally spellbinding, but like the rest of the music, never intrudes on the action(like all the best scores). The soundtrack is the finishing touch to a masterpiece....

Huge mix disc Review ofFSUK Vol.3 (The Future Sound Of The United Kingdom/Mixed By Bently Rhythm Ace) - VariousArtistsby
billdaily
Advantages: Great tracks, humourous, long lasting Disadvantages: Who are these artists?
...I bought this having been a huge Bentley Rhythm Ace fan, and I have to say its worth every penny. Kicking off with Jefferson Airplane, the dreamy mystical track merges with Fatboy Slim's Es Paradis, the carnival bouncy fun track which oddly enough ends up being Betty Boo's Doing the Do! Most of the tracks here aren't very well know (well I've never heard of Tiny Lion!), but this is for the best, as hearing new stuff is good for us all! I would recommend buying this as it IS a great cd and one you'll listen to again and again, as this two cd set is a very long laster!...

The Troubadors Of Allah Review ofPakistan - The Troubadours Of Allah (Sufi Music From The Indus Valley) - VariousArtistsby
Leadenwinter
Advantages: The antithesis of commercial rubbish. Disadvantages: Very few.

These CDs concentrate on Pakistani Sufi music which grew out of Islamic mysticism that developed around the Indus river from the 8th century onwards. The content varies from deeply haunting to light-hearted to the almost surreal in Ghulam Ali Qawwal and Party's "Deewana hai...
