Pioneers of new rave. The best £9 I've ever spent.
The klaxons, and indie-pop, new rave group from London burst onto the scene in 2007 with their debut album 'Myths of the Near Future', the album won the 2007 Nationwide Mercury Prize.
Every song on this album reeks of originality, with no song sounding too similar. No, the lyrics aren't as deep and meaningful as they could have been but that takes nothing away from the music.
The fast paced singles Gravity's Rainbow', 'Atlantis to Interzone', 'Golden Skans' and 'Magick' are all equally brilliant with the crashing drums, brilliant keyboard and booming bass line make you have to get on your feet and start dancing around. The best track on the album (although it was hard to choose) was the slower paced 'It's not over yet' which with 'Isle of Her', 'Forgotten Works' and 'Two Receivers' show a different side to the band.
Album of the year? Yes.
Absolute Brilliance.
