Advantages: May be the best contemporary white female blues singer and acoustic guitarist you'll ever hear. Disadvantages: None
...THE ARTIST:
In 1981 Rory Block was no young white female blues singer like today’s Susan Tedeschi.
Nor was she the Bonnie Raitt of old, back in her incredible pre-Grammy days in the late 60s and early 70s. That’s when Bonnie would play small clubs like the old Main Line on Philadelphia’s Haverford Avenue, a steel National Guitar on her knee, a leer in her eyes, an oath in her mouth, grinding her hips as she played, purring “I’m gonna put you in my blender, gonna whip mash ‘n puree.”
No, already in 1981 Block was arguably better than both -- possibly the best contemporary white female combination blues singer and acoustic guitar player around.
We’re talking about a woman who, as a teen working in her father Alan’s legendary leather and sandal shop in New York’s Greenwich Village in the 60s and 70s, would watch and listen...

Advantages: Some new and different sounds from the band Disadvantages: Disappointing opening and closing tracks
...vibe. Considering the age range Blue are marketed at, lines such as “Don’t you think it’s time we got naked” could be seen as quite adult, or maybe that’s just me getting old! Taste It has a very catchy melody and I could see this as a single. It will be one I will be turning up in the car to sing along to in the near future.
Following on from three lively tracks is the first single to be released from this album, Guilty. This is a ballad that recently reached number 2 in charts and was only kept off the top spot by some almighty noise claiming to be music (Fatman Scoop for those of you who are interested). It was co-written by ex-Take That star Gary Barlow and it wouldn’t have been far out of place as a Take That single. It is a strong song on the album and comes complete with the obligatory Lee screeches and high pitched warbles...

Advantages: Earliest tracks by Alien Sex Fiend Disadvantages: Some tracks should have not been included
...This is the earliest recordings that you will find legally on compact disc by this well known & loved band from London.
These are original demos recorded in July & August 1982.
These songs are the very beginning of Alien Sex Fiend.
They came before any gigs indeed before anything and they are the very first ever recordings. They led Alien Sex Fiend to playing the legendary Batcave club and they were used as backing tracks to 1930`s horror movies showing in the Batcave`s cinema room .
They are the songs that Alien Sex Fiend played at the early shows & on the UK Batcave tour .
I tend to listen to this compact disc when I want to have a flashback to my earlier & wild days as a real punk rocker.
Alien Sex Fiend are a great theatrical band & they have been around over 20 years , or if you want to be exact 24 years.
Wardance...
