I first heard about Neon Bible when it was given a brilliant write up in Q Magazine. I had heard "Keep The Car Running" on the radio at some point, as this was one of the first singles they released. When I got the album, I realised quickly that this is one of the best albums I own.

About Neon Bible ------------------------
Neone Bible is the second studio album
released by the band in March 2007. Compared to Funeral, Neon Bible has been Arcade FIre's breakthrough success. It debuted at #1 in Canada and Ireland, and #2 in the UK, America, and Portugal.
Frontman Win Butler claims that the title of the album has nothing to do with the John Kennedy Toole novel, and that the titles are "purely coincidental".
Design ----------
The cover of Neon Bible is a drawing of an open book showing many pages in a black background with a pattern round the sides. The actual CD case is inside a cardboard sleeve of the same design.
The sleeve of the album contains the lyrics to all eleven songs and there are pictures of people and other objects on every page so that if you quickly flick through the pages it appears as if they are moving.
Songs ---------
1. Black Mirror This song begins with a crecendo building up to a kicking start. Win Butler's voice is a little more relaxed though as he almost mutters "Black Mirror". It then begins to kick off in a chorus of sorts in French.
2. Keep The Car Running A slightly more happy feel to this song as the two-four signature helps keep the song sounding jumpy and lively. One of the stronger songs of the album.
3. Neon Bible The title track, but by no means does it stand out above the rest. It's a slightly more downbeat song where the lyrics are more concerned with human nature.
4. Intervention In a word, this song is simply amazing. It features a pipe organ giving the song a huge sound. The song is very anti-bush if you listen carefully. "Your little baby sister" refers to Canada.
5. Black Wave/Bad Vibrations The "Black Wave" part of this song features Régine Chassagne singing solo. It's a very urgant sounding song which deals with a theme I can't really put my finger on. Win Butler's voice eventually comes in on the "Bad Vibrations" part singing "Stop no before it's too late, been eating in the ghetto on a hundred dollar plate".
6. Ocean of Noise A slower song, and very atmosphperic. It's almost creepy, and really gets you thinking when your listning to it. The song goes from this to being very hopeful sounding at the end with the words "It's time to work it out".
7. The Well & The Lighthouse Another bright upbeat one that tells a story the whole way through. To me it sounds like he's singing about The Ring but I think all the lyrics are just another big coincedence.
8. (Antichrist Television Blues) This is another song which is making a statement. This time on society, and possibly living through your children. It's musically very good, but that could be said of every other song on the album.
9. Windowsill A sad sounding, upbeat political song. The lyrics, the music, and the whole feel just come together in this song to blow you away.
10. No Cars Go. I feel this is the strongest song on the album. It's not so much a song as it is a musical work similar to that of the great composers of the classical ages. Simply outstanding. There aren't that many lyrics but the sheer musical talent and emotion are so strong.
11. My Body is a Cage Unfortunatly the weakest song on the album follows the strongest. It's certianly not a bad song, but it feels like one of those songs bands just throw in to fill the album up. It does have great moments though "Set my spirit free" being particularly good.
Price ------- Neon Bible is currently availible for £8.98 on Amazon.co.uk
Overall ----------
Definitly the best album I've heard this year. It's certainly going to be hard to beat for album of the year. It's not often these days that a group of very talented musicians get together and do something like this. The effort put into Neon Bible is something fans should be very grateful of, and I hope we can expect more of the same from Arcade Fire in the future.
