The previous reviewer suggests you have to be from Somerset to really appreciate the Wurzels... I'd beg to differ. As far as I'm concerned, all you need is a healthy sense of humour, and an open mind when it comes to your music! This album is huge fun, and although the selection of songs are now a few years old (album was released in 2002) it still sounds great. The musicianship is first class as you would expect from guys who've been playing for well over 40 years. The vocals are typically rough and ready - but then you would sound like that after a lifetime of drinking proper west country scrumpy!
The track list is
1. Ooh- Aah Just a Little Bit (Gina G) 2. You're Gorgeous (Babybird) 3. Dead From The Waist Down (Catatonia) 4. Country House (Blur) 5. Don't Look Back In Anger (Oasis) 6 . Why Does It Always Rain On Me (Travis) 7. Tubthumping (Chumbawumba) 8. Come On Santa (Wurzels) 9. Rock D.J (Robbie Williams) 10. It Wasn't Me (Shaggy)
Some songs do work a bit better than others, though to me the only truly weak effort is the one Wurzels composition "Come On Santa" Apart from that the rest are fun fun fun all the way. For example - the intro to Rock DJ is as far from the Wurzels as you'll get.... it starts with a Ramones punk 1-2-3-4 shout and sets off at 100mph before slowing down to a nice little Wurzelesque romp! Tubthumping is just a wonderful jump around and shout-along track, Country House is brilliant, and You're Gorgeous is gut-achingly funny! If you're having a party and want to get the old folk dancing and making fools of themselves to modern songs this is the album to buy. I love it!

Good review...I have had a drink with the Wurzles and spent an evening in their company at a show they had in Taunton...They are lovely chaps and fun to be around....We dont have a lot to brag about here in Somerset but we are proud of our Wurzles, yes we are. Thanks. J.
