For this reason, NMTB is an essential album for those are really are interested in where music has come from, why we listen to the music we do. Even the anarcho-punk bands like Crass and Conflict acknowledge that the SexPistols, and this album in particular, gave them confidence to pick up an instrument and have a go themselves, and there must have been thousands of others who have had something they really wanted to say, but never would have been able to in those far-off distant days when you had to be PROFICIENT on your instrument to get anywhere.
It is also a blindingly good album...

...this is one of the greatest albums ever. its in your face full on punk look at life. johnny rotten(vocals) , sid vicious(bass) glen matlock(bass) , paul cook(drums) and steve jones(guitar) were the sexpistols this 1977 album is still listend too by many people but most people frown upon it because of the profanity on the cover. it has 12 awesomely uniqe songs on it rangeing from god save the queen too holiday in the sun. i found listening too it an enjoy ment and would recomend it to anyone. it was one of the pistols first albums and is a really good album if ya just wanna chill out or if ya gettin ready too go out on a night on the town...

...will doubtless testify to the greatness of The Clash, The Jam and other punk, or punk-leaning outfits. However, the Pistols were the first and in that sense ONLY true British punk outfit. There was never supposed to be the tidal wave of imitators that followed – instead the idea was to change the way people thought about music. The Buzzcocks and The Undertones picked up the pop element of punk and ran with it successfully. The Jam and The Police picked up the abrasiveness of punk and added it to more mainstream orientated rock dynamics. The SexPistols only released one album but they influenced as many, if not more, bands in the late 70s than Nirvana did in the early-to-mid 90s.
